Logistics Lead

Job Description

Mission Statement:
Bean's Cafe exists to fight hunger, one meal at a time, while providing a pathway to self-sufficiency with dignity and respect.
Job Summary:
Under the direct report to the Executive Chef and with coordination and reporting to the Inventory Control Specialist (ICS) and coordinating with the Food Service Admin, the Logistics Lead position is responsible for organizing the storage, collection, and distribution for Bean's Cafe and its affiliated programs. The Logistics Lead manages the logistics team to ensure that the correct products are delivered, collected, and/or distributed to the right locations.
Supports Vision:
The Logistics Lead directly supports the mission by ensuring all of the services and operations related to food delivery, collection and distribution meet quality standards and serve the community the highest quality of food services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees all the Logistics Transport staff and the scheduling of shifts. Assigns, plans, and oversees the planning of logistics operations and daily storage, collection, and distribution. Assists in coaching and discipline of employees as needed, in accordance with company policy. Oversees the hiring, and on-boarding of new staff. Other tasks as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Management of the monitoring of sites and logistics duties by; ensuring accurate meal count forms, providing technical assistance, and delivering reports. Maintain strong lines of communications with the Executive Chef, ICS, and the Logistics Transport team for staff member planning and instructions. Ensures that optimal quality and quantity efficiencies of the movement and storage of goods is achieved daily. Management of the coordination of transportation routes and conducting vehicle maintenance logs. Provide technical assistance to site staff including, but not limited to, site monitoring and training. Management of the organization and dissemination of documentation, recording, and reporting including, but not limited to: maintaining accurate daily meal count records and count forms. monitoring the quality, quantity efficiency of the movement and storage of goods, analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements as needed. Facilitate and record donation deliveries, and issue receipts for all donations. Adhere to and maintain safety and security processes and procedures. Provide consistent analysing of data to monitor performance and plan improvements as needed. Understand that any alterations to the program's operations and or services must be approved by the Executive Chef. Comply with all safety and risk policies, procedures; participates in workplace training; reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. May perform other duties and administration tasks as assigned by superiors.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age. Legal right to work in the United States. Have reliable transportation and/or access to reliable transportation. Prior logistics management experience of 3 or more years or in a similar job position is preferred. Obtain hard toed or steel shoes and/or show proof of slip hard toed or steel toed shoes within 15 days of employment.
Physical/Work Attire Requirements:
Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions (cold, rain, and wind), slippery floors, steam, hot water temperatures and surfaces. Use proper lifting techniques and be able to stand, and be on the move, for at least 8 hours without needing assistance. Have the vision ability to focus close, distance, peripheral and depth with or without corrective lenses and and to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general labor, driving, etc.) or to make general observations of equipment, facilities and/or structures. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds from the ground up. Wear proper work attire, including slip resistant/hard toed and steel toed shoes. Must be able to climb stairs.
