Job Description

Job Title:
Logistics Center Manager Location:
Huntsville, AL Position Summary This request for personnel is to support the ASD IT Logistics Center. The immediate request is for a Logistics Center Manager to lead hardware on-site support operations, including shipping, receiving, staging, break/fix, RMA processing, and lifecycle management for multiple clients. The candidate will oversee the Logistics Center team and be accountable for the inventory, receipt, configuration, deployment, and secure retirement of IT hardware for internal ASD users. The candidate will work daily on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.
Key Responsibilities Inventory & Asset Management:
Maintaining a strict, organized inventory of all IT hardware within the IT Service Management (ITSM) platform. This includes tracking serial numbers, assigning assets to specific users, and monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages.
Receiving & Logistics:
Acting as the primary point of contact for all incoming IT hardware shipments. Oversees unboxing, tagging, and secure storage of new equipment, and manages the shipping of pre-provisioned gear to remote employees or satellite offices.
Staging & Imaging:
Overseeing the "build room" where new laptops are imaged with the corporate operating system and standard applications before being handed over to the Service Desk for deployment.
RMA & Warranty Processing:
Managing Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs). If a network switch or an NVR (Network Video Recorder) fails under warranty, the Logistics Center Manager handles the paperwork, ships the broken unit back to the vendor, and secures the replacement.
Lifecycle Management & E-Waste:
Managing the retirement of old hardware. This involves coordinating secure hard drive shredding, ensuring data compliance before disposal, and working with e-waste recycling vendors to dispose of outdated technology responsibly.
Team Coordination:
Working closely with the Development Team to ensure they have enough laptops for new hires, and with the Remote Support Manager to ensure physical replacement parts (such as badge readers or door controllers) are in stock for rapid deployment.
Coaching and Development:
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and identify training gaps regarding new technologies, verifying Team Leads are conducting one-on-ones and enforcing processes and procedures.
Monthly Reporting :
Prepare and present monthly operational summaries highlighting team performance metrics, project milestones, and resource requirements.
Fostering Culture:
Maintain team morale, engagement, and collaboration in office and with remote staff. This position will require the candidate to oversee technical support to include, but is not limited to, the following areas: Tablets Time Clocks DMP Panels CCTV Cameras Windows 11 operating systems Microsoft and Google products ServiceNow Candidates shall stay informed of all changes to Logistics Center processes and procedures and ensure the team does the same. In addition, the candidate must maintain records of time entries and review team time entries for accuracy. Previous technical experience with computer hardware and prior supervisory experience are highly desired.
Required Qualifications Education Level:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in a Technical, Computer, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Must be decisive, conscientious and interact well in a team environment Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills Have a strong desire to learn and ability to follow and enforce policies and procedures Must have a strong working knowledge of and experience with computer hardware and peripheral devices in a diverse environment Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail in inventory, asset tracking, and documentation Must be self-motivated and self-driven Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Able to work in a fast paced environment. Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of experience preferred with: Enterprise level Help Desk or IT Service Desk Onsite Support IT asset management, inventory control, and shipping/receiving Team leadership or supervisory experience (1-2 years) Experience with CCTV is strongly preferred
Certifications:
Windows 11 operating systems ITSM platform experience (ServiceNow) Certification(s) preferred but not mandatory CompTIA Security+, MCITP (Enterprise Desktop Support Technician), A+,
HDI Desktop Support Technician, ITIL Foundation Additional Requirements:
Able to work Monday - Friday, anytime between the hours of 7AM and 6PM CST as needed. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. Ability to work while standing or moving for extended periods.
