Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years.
NJFC operates three production facilities:
Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are looking for a Materials Supervisor to be responsible for supervision of the Materials Department (Ingredient, Materials and Receiving area), including day-to-day operational functions ensuring safeguarding of inventory, accuracy of inventory, continuous flow process, maintaining quality assurance, effective and efficient productivity, and continuous improvement. This leader will be responsible for departmental achievement towards goals and deadlines set forth at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. Neil Jones Food Company Key Responsibilities:
Supervises the timely receipt of ingredients, materials and supplies; ensures that materials are put away in proper locations. Supervises forklift drivers and clerical personnel in area of responsibility. Secures proper documentation for all incoming deliveries; Bills of Lading, Certificate of Analysis, etc. Maintains accurate inventories so that PeopleSoft by location equals physical inventory on hand. Communicates and coordinates with Procurement Department and Production Planning to ensure the right ingredients and materials in the right quantities are on hand; participates in Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) process.
Requirements :
Associates degree or equivalent in business, materials management, supply management or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position. 3 years' relevant work experience in the manufacturing industry, including 2 years' experience in food processing manufacturing to include materials, ingredients and inventory management control operations; 2+ years supervisory experience, union environment experience preferred. Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Proficient skills in inventory unit measure conversion and similar mathematics functions including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
