Note:
This operation runs 24/7, and individual schedules are determined by volume and client needs. Weekend availability is required and the facility is only closed three days each year.
Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations of receiving, shipping, and inventory control in a retail distribution environment. This role directs teams to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals, ensures accurate inventory management, and supports timely order fulfillment to enhance customer satisfaction. The supervisor works closely with operations leadership to optimize processes and maintain compliance with company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas, including docks, aisles, break areas, and offices. Schedule staff effectively to cover all shifts across a 7-day workweek while controlling labor costs and overtime. Lead daily start-up and shift turnover meetings to communicate volumes, priorities, and safety updates. Ensure proper receiving, put-away, and staging of inventory, coordinating with transportation and yard teams to optimize inbound and outbound flow. Implement new company policies and procedures while monitoring compliance. ? Address operational issues, including mis-shipments, inventory discrepancies, and customer complaints.
Inventory & Product Responsibility:
Ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory management, receiving, storage, and shipping of merchandise. Work closely with Customer Service and Inventory Control to maintain product quality and resolve operational or inventory issues. Minimize in-house product damage through staff training, awareness, and proper handling practices.
Management:
Supervise warehouse and inventory control staff, evaluating performance and providing coaching as needed Lead monthly safety meetings and follow up to reduce workplace hazards. ? Enforce compliance with company policies and procedures, including timekeeping and payroll oversight. Develop direct reports and lead associates to maximize performance and support career growth. Assist in managing departmental KPIs such as fill rates, on-time shipments, cost per case, and OSHA recordable injury rates.
