Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Parts Manager is responsible for leading and transforming the Parts Room and inventory operations to support safe, reliable and cost-effective terminal equipment maintenance. This role is not only responsible for day-to-day parts operations, but also for creating structure, improving processes, increasing inventory accuracy, strengthening accountability and cleaning up historical inventory and system issues. The Parts Manager will work closely with all stakeholders like parts mechanics, maintenance leadership, procurement, finance and foremen to establish a highly organized and controlled parts operation that supports terminal uptime and long-term operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead all daily parts room and warehouse operations.
  • Organize and optimize parts storage areas for efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain proper inventory control processes and standards.
  • Improve parts issuing, receiving, labeling, tracking and return processes.
  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions within CMMS system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and establish min/max stocking strategies for critical spare parts.
  • Reduce inventory discrepancies and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Lead inventory cleanup initiatives and obsolete inventory reviews.
  • Support cycle counts, quarterly counts and annual physical inventory activities. Education, Experience and Skills Required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Logistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in inventory, warehouse, or parts management.
  • Experience in heavy equipment, industrial, port terminal, transportation, or maintenance environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control systems, CMMS, ERP and warehouse operations.
  • Proven experience improving processes and cleaning up disorganized inventory operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of organization, accountability and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities using Excel and inventory systems. Physical Job Demands
  • Work as necessary for a 24/7 operation.
  • Travel as necessary, sometimes on very short notice.
  • Drive a vehicle and maintain a valid Californiadriver's license while employed.
  • Climb stairs and traversing uneven surfaces.
  • Work at heights, e.g. cranes.
  • Sit, walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Use computer(s), communication and related equipment and software effectively.
  • Bend, reach, pull, push, scoot, climb ladders and lift up to 45 pounds.
