Position Summary The Yard Traffic Controller is responsible for directing and coordinating all vehicle and equipment movement within the yard to ensure safe, efficient, and organized operations. This position serves as the central point of communication between truck drivers, forklift operators, warehouse personnel, and operations staff to minimize congestion, maintain safety standards, and ensure timely movement of cargo and vehicles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct all inbound and outbound truck traffic within the facility. Coordinate the movement of vehicles between receiving, inspection, storage, loading, and shipping areas. Maintain an organized traffic flow to prevent congestion and delays. Assign parking locations for trailers, containers, and vehicles. Communicate with warehouse personnel regarding loading and unloading priorities. Ensure drivers follow all company safety procedures while on company property. Verify truck, trailer, and driver information to include scheduled appointments before allowing entry into designated areas. Monitor yard capacity and notify management when space limitations arise. Maintain radio communication with forklift operators, supervisors, dispatch, and warehouse personnel. Report accidents, property damage, unsafe conditions, or traffic incidents immediately. Responsible for managing and scheduling appointments of deliveries. Ensure emergency access lanes remain clear at all times. Monitor compliance with speed limits and traffic regulations within the yard. Document vehicle movements, delays, incidents, and operational issues. Assist during emergency situations by directing traffic safely. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, transportation, or yard operations preferred. Strong verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer and radio communication skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
