Director of Logistics and Warehousing Bentley Mission Critical Location:
Denver Metro, Colorado Reports To:
VP of Supply Chain Employment Type:
Full-Time |
Exempt Travel:
Regular travel between locations and to delivery sites as needed Position Summary Bentley Mission Critical is seeking an experienced Director of Logistics and Warehousing to lead warehouse operations, inventory control, and inbound and outbound logistics across Bentley Mission Critical and Coyote Tanks operations. This is not a development or training role. Candidates must bring extensive, proven experience leading multi-site warehouse operations, launching warehouse facilities, managing freight, and resolving inventory and delivery issues—with the ability to take ownership from day one.
The objective is simple:
Manufacturing should receive complete, accurate material kits at the point of use, in the sequence required, and before production is scheduled to begin. Finished products must reach customers safely and on time. The Director must establish disciplined material flow from receiving and storage through picking, kit verification, staging, and delivery to production. Missing parts, incorrect quantities, and inventory discrepancies must be identified and addressed before they disrupt manufacturing. Primary Responsibilities The Director of Logistics and Warehousing will own warehouse execution, inventory accuracy, and logistics performance across assigned sites.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and develop Site Warehouse Managers; establish clear goals, standard work, and accountability. Establish consistent receiving, storage, handling, material issue, staging, loading, and shipping practices. Maintain safe, clean, organized warehouses equipped for the size, weight, and handling requirements of materials and finished products. Own inventory accuracy, cycle-count procedures, location controls, variance investigation, and reconciliation. Ensure receiving, material issue, and inventory transactions are completed accurately and on time. Lead the design and implementation of manufacturing material kitting tied to bills of material, work orders, production sequence, and scheduled start dates. Establish standard processes for picking, verifying, labeling, staging, and delivering complete kits to designated production areas. Define kit ownership, completeness checks, shortage escalation, replenishment, and unused-material returns. Maintain accurate ERP/WMS transactions and material traceability throughout picking, staging, and issue to production. Coordinate with Production Planning, Plant Managers, and Procurement to resolve kit shortages before scheduled production starts. Lead new warehouse design and startup, including layout, material flow, storage systems, equipment, staffing, systems setup, inventory transfers, and go-live readiness. Manage inbound and outbound freight, carrier performance, shipment scheduling, and freight costs. Plan oversized and specialized shipments, including permits, equipment, packaging, loading, securement, and site access requirements. Confirm production, carrier, field-team, and customer-site readiness before dispatch. Own site execution of approved direct-material consumables vendor-managed inventory programs, including stocking locations, inventory transactions, counts, replenishment controls, and shortage escalation. Partner with Procurement and Finance to balance material availability, inventory investment, and working capital. Investigate damage, claims, material shortages, and transaction errors; implement corrective actions. Recommend staffing, systems, equipment, and process improvements as the business grows. Report inventory, shipment, freight cost, service risks, and required decisions to the VP of Supply Chain. Inventory Accuracy and Manufacturing Support Inventory must be accurate, and materials must reach manufacturing ready for use. The Director will establish a manufacturing kitting process that provides the correct parts, quantities, and revisions for each work order or production stage. Kits must be verified against approved material requirements, clearly labeled, and staged or delivered according to the production schedule. Kit shortages must be visible before work begins, with assigned owners and recovery dates. Any release of an incomplete kit must follow an agreed exception process with Production Planning and Operations. Manufacturing should not have to search for materials that the system says are available. Success will be measured by kit completeness at the required start time, picking and quantity accuracy, on-time kit delivery, and reduced material-related production interruptions. Logistics and Delivery Accountability Scheduling a shipment is only one part of delivering a product. The Director must ensure the load is ready, the carrier is capable, required permits and equipment are in place, and the receiving site can accept delivery. Warehouse and delivery problems must have an owner, an action plan, and a resolution date. This leader must address recurring failures and remain directly involved when inventory, freight, or site constraints threaten production or customer delivery. Required Experience Candidates must bring established warehouse and logistics leadership experience in manufacturing or project-based operations.
Required qualifications include:
At least 10 years of progressive warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience. At least five years leading multi-site warehouse teams, supervisors, or managers. Proven experience launching a new warehouse operation or major facility expansion, including layout, systems, staffing, inventory transfers, and startup stabilization. Experience establishing or operating vendor-managed inventory or supplier-managed replenishment controls. Knowledge of oversized or specialized freight planning, permits, load securement, and delivery coordination. Proficiency with ERP and warehouse management systems, inventory reporting, spreadsheets, and shipment tracking. Strong safety leadership, operational judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills. A bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, operations, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
