HIRING SALARY RANGE

The Work You Will Do:
Materials Manager- Certifications This position plays a key role in supporting the department by evaluating and improving projects and processes to ensure consistent, efficient, and reliable outcomes. It ensures data accuracy and compliance through detailed analysis of materials information, promptly addressing errors and communicating issues to stakeholders. This position will be responsible for managing material acceptance for all construction and on-system local agency projects in District 1&7 and will supervise 2 employees. It also contributes to the department's mission by reviewing technical documents, offering constructive feedback, and proposing practical solutions.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Review Quality Control plans, Construction plans, specifications, procedures and any other documents necessary to execute the Department's mission. Prepare Materials Certification in accordance with the requirements of
CFR SUBCHAPTER G, PART
637, Subpart B - Quality Assurance Procedures for Construction. Provide clear comments as requested in time to be useful to the customer. Offers solutions when objecting to the approach that is proposed.
Supervises employees spending majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees work. Secure resources necessary for employees to succeed. Ensure employees meet quality and quantity requirements of the position. Focus employees on the Department's mission and objectives outlined in the business plan.
Evaluate project/process to determine current performance status. Make/recommend improvements to optimize delivery or improve results. Notify stakeholders of any changes to the project/process. Ensure project/process is consistent, predictable and repeatable.
Analyze materials data for contract and procedural compliance. Take timely action to correct any errors in the data. Actively facilitates the notification of stakeholders of errors, failures or negative trends.
Provide materials related technical support to customers as requested. Provide support in time to meet the customer's needs. Provide guidance and training to customers.

Knowledge of:
The concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of Materials - Certifications.
Skills in:
Using engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
Using engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments.

Operate a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Analyze and interpret engineering data.
Solve problems relating to engineering.
Perform technical engineering inspections.

Other Job-Related Requirements:
Must pass or have passed Construction Math and Contract Plans Reading Self Study examinations. Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve in the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT).
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience evaluating road and bridge materials and prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and /or database applications.
