Dalton, GA Travel :
Minimal travel between Georgia and N. Carolina facilities We are seeking a Supply Chain Improvement Manager to support inventory management, supplier coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives across two manufacturing facilities. This is not a position related to Supply Chain Logistics . The Supply Chain Manager will be working to oversee raw material inventory, and raw material ordering. You will work closely with our production scheduler, and vendors to ensure accurate inventory is purchased and arrives in a timely manner. You will be responsible of ensuring positive business relationships and communication with our material vendors. In addition, you will be responsible for keeping accurate inventory logs and assisting with inventory damage claims. This role is ideal for someone with a strong supply chain or materials background along with exposure to Lean Manufacturing. If you are interested in growing your continuous improvement skills, this may be the right fit for you! The position will initially focus heavily on inventory, materials flow, supplier communication and relations, and ERP/MRP execution. While gradually taking on more Lean and operational improvement responsibilities over time. The ideal candidate is analytical, hands-on, process-oriented, and comfortable working closely with production, scheduling, suppliers, and plant leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage raw material inventory and supplier communication across two facilities Monitor inventory accuracy, safety stock levels, lead times, and material availability Coordinate purchase orders, delivery updates, and material shortages Support ERP/MRP system usage and inventory management processes Analyze operational and inventory data to identify improvement opportunities Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, root cause analysis, standard work, and waste reduction Participate in and support continuous improvement and Kaizen activities Work cross-functionally with production, scheduling, warehouse, and leadership teams to improve operational performance Help develop sustainable processes and long-term operational improvements Qualifications 3+ years of supply chain, materials, purchasing, inventory, or production planning experience in manufacturing preferred Understanding of inventory management fundamentals including inventory accuracy, safety stock, lead times, FIFO, and Kanban Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Axiom, or Amtech Strong Excel and analytical skills Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement concepts preferred Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification is a plus Strong communication skills and professional maturity Hands-on mindset with willingness to spend time on the production floor is a must Corrugated, packaging, paper, or general manufacturing experience is helpful but not required. This opportunity will allow you the chance to grow in supply chain and Lean Manufacturing. You will work in partnership with the Continuous Improvement Manager and have the ability to make impactful decisions. This role will give you direct hands-on experience into manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
