The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in supply chain management, transportation planning, and freight forwarding logistics, with a focus on ocean imports. Your leadership will be instrumental in optimizing shipping logistics, negotiating contracts, and delivering exceptional customer service to our clients. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic logistics environment where efficiency, compliance, and client satisfaction are paramount. Responsibilities Oversee the entire ocean import team who process from booking to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment execution. Coordinate with carriers, NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers), customs brokers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth import operations. Manage trade compliance procedures in accordance with international trade regulations and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations where applicable. Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and CRM software to track shipments, update statuses, and maintain accurate data entry. Negotiate rates, contracts, and service terms with carriers and freight forwarders to optimize transportation costs. Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, account management, and customer service excellence. Monitor shipment schedules, resolve issues proactively, and ensure adherence to shipping logistics standards. Collaborate with internal teams on logistics planning, pricing strategies, and sales management initiatives. Ensure compliance with customs documentation requirements and international trade regulations. Prepare reports on import activities, analyze data for continuous improvement opportunities, and support audit processes. Qualifications Proven experience in supply chain management with a focus on ocean freight import operations within a logistics company or 3PL environment (5+ years in management) Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), freight brokerage logistics, and shipping logistics procedures. Familiarity with international trade regulations, FDA regulations (if applicable), and trade compliance standards. Experience negotiating freight rates, contracts, and carrier sales agreements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data analysis and reporting. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effective client relationship management and team collaboration.
