Job Description

Logistics Terminal Container Manager Job Description:
This position will report to the Operations Manager and will have the responsibility of overseeing the safe, efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of shipping containers and hopper trucks.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Direct Daily Operations:
Supervise all container yard activities, including loading, unloading, inventory control and gate operations
Optimize Capacity:
Design and execute strategic yard layouts to maximize space utilization and reduce container handling steps
Manage Technology:
Oversee the data integrity of our Terminal Operating System (TOS) to track container locations and inventory accurately
Coordinate Logistics:
Collaborate with management, customers, operations, and logistics personnel to resolve scheduling conflicts
Enforce Compliance:
Ensure full adherence to maritime, port, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and hazardous material storage codes
Analyze Performance:
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) like gate turn times, loading/unloading efficiencies, and inventory totals
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in container terminal operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with modern Terminal Operating Systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
Leadership:
Strong team-building skills with a proven track record of managing unionized or non-unionized operations labor
Problem-Solving:
Ability to make quick, critical decisions under pressure in a fast-paced, 24/7 industrial environment
Communication:
Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with corporate leadership and ground crews
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
