We have a record of reliable service and long-term customer relationships, and we are adding an experienced operations professional to our Glen Burnie team. Position Summary The Assistant Operations Manager reports to the General Manager directly and supports the daily operations. This role covers dispatch and shares responsibility for driver recruiting, customer service, fleet maintenance and DOT compliance. The ideal candidate is at ease moving between functions throughout the day and takes ownership of issues until they are resolved. Key Responsibilities Dispatch Operations Manage the dispatch board, assigning drivers, tractors and trailers to meet service commitments Respond to breakdowns, driver availability issues and customer schedule changes in real time Maintain enough working knowledge of daily operations to assume dispatch duties on short notice Recruiting and Onboarding Post job openings, review applications and conduct initial phone screens Schedule interviews and road tests Coordinate motor vehicle record reviews, drug testing and background checks Manage new-hire paperwork and onboarding so that each hire is complete and compliant Maintain a pipeline of qualified driver candidates Customer Service Take ownership of service exceptions, including missed pickups, late deliveries and customer escalations Communicate proactively with customers about the status of issues Follow each issue through to resolution or escalate it as appropriate Fleet Maintenance Monitor inspections, repairs and preventive maintenance schedules Coordinate with repair vendors to reduce equipment downtime Identify recurring equipment issues and report them to management Safety and Compliance Comply with DOT regualtions Monitor hours-of-service compliance, drug and alcohol testing programs, and license and medical card expirations Identify and correct compliance gaps before they become regulatory findings Continuous Improvement Document corrective procedures for recurring operational issues Serve as backup to the General Manager as needed Qualifications Required Minimum of 3+ years of experience in trucking dispatch or transportation operations Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, including driver qualification files, hours of service, and drug and alcohol testing Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and transportation management systems (TMS) Availability for on-call duties and some weekend work Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to set priorities under time pressure Preferred Experience recruiting CDL and Non CDL drivers and office personnel Experience with regional or dedicated fleet operations Familiarity with expedited trucking, air freight, cartage, and warehousing/distribution

Compensation and Benefits Salary:
