This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who knows factory parts operations, understands the pace of a busy service drive, and can run a profitable department without letting inventory get away from them. The right candidate has already done this job at a VW or Audi store and knows the difference between a parts department that supports the shop and one that slows it down. What You'll Do Inventory Management & Control Maintain stocking levels that keep service and body shop techs working without delay Manage inventory investment to avoid excess carrying costs, obsolescence, and dead stock Monitor fill rates, turn ratios, and phase-in/phase-out criteria; adjust stocking guides accordingly Conduct regular cycle counts and a full annual physical inventory Process returns, warranty parts, core returns, and manufacturer stock orders on schedule Reconcile the parts inventory to the accounting schedule monthly with the Controller Purchasing & Sourcing Order OEM parts through factory channels and manage emergency/VIP orders Source approved aftermarket alternatives where appropriate without compromising quality or warranty compliance Negotiate pricing and terms with outside vendors; evaluate suppliers on price, availability, and delivery reliability Stay current on manufacturer parts programs, price updates, and return policies Sales & Customer Service Support the service department as the internal customer — accurate quotes, fast turnaround, correct parts the first time Grow wholesale and retail parts business, including counter sales, phone sales, and outside accounts Set competitive pricing matrices that protect gross while staying market-appropriate Resolve customer and technician issues on incorrect or delayed parts quickly and professionally Management & Team Leadership Lead, schedule, and develop parts counter staff, drivers, and warehouse personnel Hire, train, and conduct performance reviews; build a bench so the department doesn't depend on one person Set clear expectations for accuracy, customer handling, and housekeeping Enforce safety standards and maintain an organized, well-labeled parts department Financial & Administrative Own the parts department
P&L:
gross profit, expense control, and monthly forecasting Report on department performance to the General Manager / Fixed Operations Director Maintain compliance with manufacturer standards and any applicable certification requirements What You Bring Required 3+ years as a Parts Manager or Assistant Parts Manager at a franchised dealership Direct VW or Audi experience (or comparable European brand experience with a clear path to VW/Audi systems) Working knowledge of dealership DMS platforms (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or similar) Proven ability to manage inventory turn, fill rate, and obsolescence Valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Familiarity with VW/Audi parts catalogs, ordering systems, and manufacturer programs Experience building wholesale parts business Bilingual English/Spanish a plus in this market You're a fit if you Are comfortable being measured on numbers — turn, fill rate, gross, obsolescence Can hold a team accountable while keeping people around Communicate well with technicians, advisors, and customers alike What We Offer Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) [with/without company match] Paid time off and paid holidays Employee discounts on parts, service, and vehicle purchases Ongoing manufacturer training and certification [Any additional perks: 5-day work week, closed
