Job Description

K&S Logistics Location:
Somerset, New Jersey —
On-site Job Type:
Full-time Pay We are open to different experience levels: Senior Supervisor /
Developing Manager:
$50,000-$70,000 per year
Experienced Manager:
$75,000-$100,000 per year Final title and pay will depend on your actual warehouse experience, inventory-control skills, leadership ability, and performance during our interview and practical assessment. What This Job Is About We are building a new K&S Logistics warehouse operation in New Jersey. We need someone who can take ownership of inbound receiving and inventory control . Your job is to make sure: Incoming products are received correctly. Inventory in the WMS matches what is actually in the warehouse. Products are placed in the correct locations. Problems and differences are found and fixed. Inventory is ready before it is handed to the outbound team. The warehouse knows what inventory is coming, where it will go, and what needs to be replenished. You will work closely with our Outbound Lead, but this is a separate management role. Main Responsibilities 1. Manage Inbound You will manage the process from before the shipment arrives until the inventory is ready to use.
This includes:
Review upcoming inbound shipments. Check whether the client provided the required information. Plan receiving labor and warehouse space. Coordinate appointments and incoming trucks. Check cartons, SKUs, quantities, labels, and visible damage. Record receiving correctly in the WMS. Make sure products are put into the correct warehouse locations. Follow up on incomplete or problem shipments. If an inbound shipment has a problem, you should not simply accept incorrect information into the system. You should identify the problem, hold the affected inventory when necessary, and push for a solution. 2. Control Inventory You will be responsible for keeping warehouse inventory accurate.
This includes:
Cycle counts. Inventory checks. Location accuracy. Finding missing inventory. Investigating inventory differences. Checking inventory adjustments. Making sure inventory movements are scanned and recorded. Checking open, damaged, mixed, or unidentified cartons. Making sure inventory is not released for shipping before required checks are complete. We do not want someone who solves inventory problems by simply changing the WMS number. You need to find out why the difference happened . 3. Plan Inventory for Outbound You will work with the Outbound Lead to make sure the outbound team has the inventory it needs.
For example:
Which SKUs will be needed tomorrow? Is enough inventory in the picking area? Does inventory need to be replenished from storage? Is inventory available but still waiting for inbound processing? Is something being held because of a discrepancy? Is there enough warehouse space for incoming inventory? Your responsibility is to identify these problems before they stop outbound operations . 4. Build Clear Warehouse Processes You will help us build simple and usable SOPs for: Inbound receiving. Putaway. Inventory movement. Cycle counting. Inventory adjustment. Replenishment. Inventory release to outbound. The SOP does not need to be a long corporate document. It needs to be clear enough that another trained employee can follow it correctly. 5. Lead and Train the Team You will manage and train employees working in inbound and inventory control.
We need someone who can:
Work with people on the warehouse floor. Explain what needs to be done. Correct mistakes. Train backup employees. Hold people accountable. Work calmly with the outbound team when priorities conflict. This is not an office-only management job . You need to understand what is actually happening on the warehouse floor. Your Authority You will have authority within the approved warehouse process to: Hold affected inventory when information is incomplete. Require recounts. Require missing receiving information. Stop unsupported inventory adjustments. Require correct WMS records. Prevent unverified inventory from being released to outbound. Escalate important inventory or capacity problems. At the same time, we expect you to solve problems quickly. A good manager should not only say: "No, we cannot do this." You should be able to say: "Here is the problem. Here is what we can safely continue doing. Here is what needs to be fixed. Here is who needs to fix it."You Are Probably a
Good Fit If You Have:
5+ years of warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, or inventory experience. Experience leading warehouse employees. Hands-on inbound receiving experience. Hands-on inventory-control experience. Experience with cycle counts and inventory differences. Experience using a WMS and barcode/RF scanners. Experience with putaway and warehouse locations. Experience with replenishment. Basic to strong Excel skills. The ability to explain warehouse problems clearly. The ability to work full-time on-site in Somerset, New Jersey. We care more about what you have actually done than your exact previous job title. A strong Inventory Supervisor or Receiving Supervisor who is ready for more responsibility is welcome to apply. Strong Plus, But Not Required These are helpful, but we will not reject a good candidate for not having them: Multi-client 3PL experience. E-commerce or D2C fulfillment experience. Experience opening or setting up a warehouse. High-SKU inventory experience. Experience building SOPs. Experience with inventory reporting and analysis. Mandarin Chinese. Spanish. Mandarin is a plus only. English-speaking candidates receive no deduction for not speaking Mandarin. This Role May Not Be a
Good Fit If:
Your experience is only office-based. You have never personally investigated inventory differences. You rely on other people to use the WMS for you. Your normal solution to an inventory problem is simply adjusting the system quantity. You only manage people but do not understand receiving and inventory operations. You prefer waiting for senior management to make routine warehouse decisions. You are uncomfortable working directly on a warehouse floor. Work Schedule Normal schedule is Monday through Friday . During peak season, warehouse launches, inventory counts, or unusual operating situations, you must be able to work: Overtime when needed. Some weekends when needed. Specific regular working hours will be confirmed before hire. What Success Looks Like During your first months, we expect you to help us establish: A clear inbound process. Accurate warehouse locations. A working cycle-count process. Controlled inventory adjustments. Reliable inventory records. A clear replenishment process. A clean handoff from inventory to outbound. Simple SOPs employees can actually follow. Backup employees who can handle routine work without depending on one person. If you demonstrate strong leadership and judgment, this role can develop into broader warehouse-management responsibility as K&S grows. We will ask qualified candidates to explain one real example: Tell us about an inventory or inbound problem you personally solved.
Please explain:
What happened? How did you find the problem? What did you do? What was the root cause? What did you change so it would not happen again? Please do not send confidential documents from your current or previous employer. K&S Logistics is an equal opportunity employer.
