Whippany, NJ Summary A rapidly growing aerospace manufacturer is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Materials Manager to lead procurement and materials operations in a high-performance manufacturing environment. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving supplier performance, ensuring material availability, developing talent, and supporting critical customer delivery commitments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization, from the shop floor to executive leadership. This individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring a strong sense of urgency and accountability, and play a key role in supporting continued business growth within a thriving aerospace operation. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a team of Buyers while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement. Drive supplier performance through strategic negotiations focused on cost, delivery, quality, and long-term partnerships. Manage procurement activities across key aerospace commodities including machined components, castings, electronics, harnesses, PCBs, and electromechanical assemblies. Ensure uninterrupted material flow to support production schedules, customer commitments, and operational objectives. Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Business Unit leadership to proactively resolve supply chain constraints. Monitor supplier metrics, inventory health, shortages, and delivery performance to identify risks and implement corrective actions. Champion inventory optimization initiatives while maintaining material availability and operational efficiency. Serve as a highly visible leader on the production floor, engaging teams, removing roadblocks, and driving execution. Lead supplier recovery efforts and escalation activities to ensure on-time delivery performance. Support business growth initiatives through scalable supply chain processes, strategic planning, and operational excellence. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Proven experience leading procurement, purchasing, materials, or supply chain teams within a manufacturing environment. Strong background negotiating supplier pricing, lead times, and contractual commitments. Experience managing suppliers supporting complex manufacturing operations. ERP/MRP system experience required. Aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop teams, influence stakeholders, and drive measurable results.
