Job Description

Job Purpose The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the high level functionality of procurement of machined parts and commercially purchased parts. Norwalt is in a cutting edge system where high level focus is a majority of what is required for the role - focus is on negotiating long term discounts with commercial suppliers and distributers to get optimal pricing and leadtimes. On the non commercial side - overseeing employees to find new vendors to meet the customer needs is critical as well. The purchasing manager will be involved in all aspects of the company including job kickoff to determine critical component purchases all the way to spare parts after the machine has shipped. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Negotiate long term discounts with commercial suppliers and distributers Evaluate supplier data to make decisions on continued relationships and supplier effectiveness Further develop proprietary purchasing AI system and track results Use data from internal ERP with costing and delivery data to determine effectiveness Oversee machined parts vendor relationship development Work with internal expeditor to ensure product delivery and responsiveness stable Work with shipping department in both locations to determine problematic vendors and recurring issues Work with AP department to determine problematic vendors and recurring issues Meet with project managers at beginning of jobs to get optimal pricing and delivery on long lead time and high volume items Negotiate payment terms and payment discounts with all vendors Work with spare parts and service department to ensure delivery of all components for field jobs is met Meet with expeditor to determine items that are problematic with delivery Work with engineering both mechanical and electrical to determine compatible alternates facing delivery issues Determine alternate parts for all components ordered to ensure supply chain issues are minimized for all commercial components Introduce potential commercial vendors to different departments in order to increase technoclogical advancements and increase vendors available for purchase Qualification Requirements Ability to use excel and familiar with some ERP/Scheduling software Ability to read blueprints helpful but not required Ability to navigate a computer effectively Verbal and written communication
