The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain supporting battery cell and module manufacturing. This role ensures the timely availability of battery cells, module components, packaging materials, and production supplies while maintaining inventory accuracy, supplier performance, cost efficiency, and production continuity. The Supply Chain Manager partners with Manufacturing, Production Planning, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics to establish reliable material flow from suppliers through production and shipment of finished battery modules. This position plays a critical role in minimizing material shortages, managing supply chain risks, and supporting the company's quality, delivery, and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Planning & Materials Management Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with cell, module and pack production schedules and business objectives. Manage material requirements planning (MRP) to ensure timely availability of materials. Monitor production forecasts, customer demand, and inventory requirements to maintain appropriate stock levels. Coordinate with Production Planning to prevent material shortages, production interruptions, and line-down conditions. Establish inventory policies for critical components, long-lead-time materials, and safety stock. Monitor material consumption, inventory accuracy, and production usage against planned requirements. Procurement & Supplier Management Lead purchasing activities for battery cells, module components, packaging, and production supplies. Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers. Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, capacity commitments, and supply agreements. Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and responsiveness. Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to address supplier defects, material nonconformances, and corrective actions. Develop alternative sourcing strategies for critical materials and high-risk suppliers. Support supplier qualification and new supplier onboarding in accordance with company requirements. Battery Manufacturing & Production Support Ensure materials are available at the correct location, quantity, and time to support automated and semi-automated module production lines. Coordinate material replenishment, line-side inventory, and warehouse activities. Work with Manufacturing Engineering to support new equipment, process changes, and new product introductions. Support production ramp-ups by coordinating material readiness, supplier capacity, and inventory requirements. Monitor battery cell and component availability to support production targets and customer delivery commitments. Coordinate with Quality and Engineering on material traceability, lot control, and production documentation requirements. Support the management of nonconforming materials, supplier returns, and material disposition activities. Logistics & Inventory Control Oversee inbound transportation, receiving, storage, and material movement to production. Ensure proper handling, labeling, packaging, and storage of battery cells and related materials in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements. Coordinate transportation and logistics activities for finished battery modules and customer shipments. Establish and monitor cycle-counting programs, inventory accuracy, and warehouse controls. Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory, obsolete materials, freight costs, and material handling inefficiencies. Maintain accurate purchase orders, supplier schedules, inventory records, and material status reports. Risk Management & Continuous Improvement Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to supplier capacity, component availability, transportation, quality, and demand changes. Develop contingency plans for critical battery cells and module components. Monitor supply chain KPIs and prepare reports for management. Lead initiatives to improve supplier delivery performance, inventory turns, material availability, and purchasing cost. Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement activities within the supply chain and manufacturing organization. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, materials management, or manufacturing operations. Previous management or supervisory experience preferred. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning (Business Dynamics Preferred). Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management, supplier performance, and logistics. Experience working in a manufacturing environment with production schedules and material requirements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in battery manufacturing, lithium-ion batteries, energy storage systems, automotive, electronics, or advanced manufacturing. Experience managing battery cells, module components, or other specialized manufacturing materials. Knowledge of battery module assembly, cell-to-module processes, or high-volume automated production. Experience with supplier quality, material traceability, and lot control. Lean Six Sigma certification or experience with continuous improvement methodologies. Experience supporting new product launches, manufacturing ramp-ups, or supplier development.
