Job Description

Good Transport Services is a leading provider of transportation, services, and parts for the commercial trucking industry. In business for over 80 years, we pride ourselves on our loyal employees and their high level of customer service. We provide specialized (bulk) and van services to our customers, as well as offer a full-service shop and parts department. Good Transport Services is seeking qualified applicants for its Transportation Logistics Manager position, located in Columbia, PA. This position will work on-site Monday-Friday (7:30 AM - 4:30 PM).
Primary Responsibilities:
The Transportation Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, managing fleet maintenance and equipment needs, and ensuring driver safety and compliance. This role has significant dispatching responsibilities, including overseeing the timely scheduling of deliveries from our client's facilities, providing excellent customer service to our clients, and ensuring that the scheduling is completed in a cost-effective manner by proper routing and fleet utilization. The Transportation Logistics Manager also participates in strategic initiatives within the transportation department, including evaluating equipment needs, and seeking out new customer opportunities.
Logistics & Fleet Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with current customers and seek out new opportunities and relationships to expand business and capabilities Coordinate with Service Department and third-party service providers to manage fleet maintenance and repairs, including both regular servicing, as well as for needed on-the-road maintenance and equipment issues Manage and evaluate equipment needs, along with General Manager, including new purchases and subsequent preparation, retirements, and disposals Oversee fleet registration, authorizations, and compliance documentation, and complete all reporting requirements (fuel tax reimbursements, records checks, insurance, etc.) Assist with transportation safety and compliance initiatives. Ensure fleet and drive compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Dispatching & Customer Service:
Schedule and dispatch all customer loads in an efficient manner, including same-day additions and other schedule changes provided by the customer Communicate with drivers regarding delivery schedule, truck maintenance, delivery instructions, and safety and operational protocols, among other driver responsibilities. This may include answering calls after-hours on occasion Maintain daily communication with clients regarding current and upcoming loads, and provide exceptional customer service Collect and sort driver mail (driver logs, receipts, inspection reports, etc.) and calculate mileage for billing purposes Troubleshoot on-the-road and mill/delivery issues that arise with drivers, and resolve as appropriate Assist with post-accident processes, including claims reporting and follow up, and drug screening, as appropriate Assist other dispatchers as needed
Supervision & Leadership:
Directly supervise and evaluate drivers, including overseeing their day-to-day responsibilities, and managing their performance and reviews Assist with the hiring and training of drivers, and maintain driver schedules Assist with driver safety initiatives, and review farm procedures and safety measures, along with the
General Manager Additional Responsibilities:
Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for increased efficiency, accuracy, and productivity Occasional operation of CMV All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous experience working within the transportation industry, preferably in dispatching, logistics coordination, or operations (5+ years) Experience with and knowledge of fleet maintenance Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA) Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills, and a strong attention to detail Ability to collaborate and work effectively with others Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to positively interact with individuals across the business (drivers, customers, colleagues, etc.) Valid, current driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
CDL A Previous experience working within or alongside agriculture industry Previous experience with business development initiatives and expanding business

Full-time Pay:
$58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
