Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The General Manager is responsible for the leadership, growth, and development of a TMC Logistics Center with 50-75 reports ultimately. Accountable for both the development of exceptional people and a profitable P&L. Accountable for embodying and demonstrating the core values of Quality, Integrity and Continuous Improvement. This is done by utilizing communication, organizational, creativity skills to maximize revenue potential while meeting customer service/operational requirements and organizational goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build a growing sales culture based on goals, accountability and performance that helps clients win with their supply chains
- Drive energy, excitement, and a winning, infectious culture that supports the company focus on Destination Excellence
- Lead, mentor, and motivate office team members
- Assist team in sourcing, winning, improving, developing, and growing customer commitments.
- Work collaboratively with capacity leadership showing sales team how to ensure timely and effective shipment execution.
- Show employees how to resolve challenges as they arise concerning execution of loads from tendering, delivering, receivables, and payment of carrier
- Update and assist in any necessary tasks that enhance improvement to the success of the branch
- Lead branch succession planning process
- Communicate efficiently with assigned associates while successfully assisting in building strong partnerships with internal and external clients
- Recruitment and hiring of qualified individuals
- Conduct performance appraisals on all direct reports
- Update all Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Communicate efficiently with the VP and respective sales group with regards to challenges, successes, and general information with accounts, people, and processes on a daily and weekly basis
- Work to build network relationships with other General Managers and offices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Four-year degree in Transportation or Logistics OR relevant experience in transportation or related field
- Four-years of experience in a 3PL environment preferred
- P&L Management Experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular to Word and Excel
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
- Ability to plan and organize, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
