ASAP Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Material Handling Manager to support a large power-generation project in Brownsville, TX. This individual will serve as the site representative responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, preserving, and tracking major power-generation equipment from delivery through turnover to the construction and commissioning teams. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting large industrial, power generation, EPC, or heavy construction projects and be comfortable working directly with field engineering, construction, logistics, and commissioning personnel. Key Responsibilities Oversee unloading, receiving, inspection, and storage of major equipment and materials delivered to the project site. Coordinate and document closed-box and open-box inspections, including identifying shipping damage, shortages, or other material discrepancies. Maintain accurate material receiving reports, inspection documentation, and equipment status within the project material management system. Manage laydown yards and storage areas to ensure equipment is properly organized, protected, accessible, and stored according to manufacturer requirements. Ensure equipment preservation requirements are established and maintained throughout storage and prior to installation. Coordinate periodic preservation activities and verify that required maintenance and preservation logs are completed. Work closely with Field Engineers, construction personnel, logistics teams, contractors, and commissioning personnel regarding equipment status and release. Identify material-handling or preservation issues and escalate concerns that could impact equipment quality, schedule, or installation. Maintain documentation required for turnover of equipment and preservation records to the commissioning team. Ensure all material-handling activities follow project procedures, contractual requirements, safety expectations, and manufacturer guidelines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with material management, equipment receiving, warehousing, logistics, or preservation on power generation, EPC, industrial, oil & gas, or heavy construction projects. Experience handling large or high-value mechanical and electrical equipment is strongly preferred. Familiarity with gas turbine, steam turbine, generator, or balance-of-plant equipment is a plus. Strong field coordination, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple contractors and project stakeholders. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
