Everything the factory consumes flows through your purchasing desk, your replenishment logic, and your ERP data. In a modular factory, material availability is the #1 schedule risk — this role is what keeps the line moving. Duties Purchasing & vendor management Purchase all materials for the manufacturing line: run the weekly buy in our ERP — replenishment report, RFQs, purchase orders, order confirmation, delivery tracking Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on product fit and on-time delivery; expedite daily; maintain the long-lead tracker (windows, appliances, chassis, HVAC, cabinets ordered at sales-order release) Shop online retailers where they win on price and availability for select products Negotiate quantity price breaks; research, identify, and negotiate supply-house contracts on favorable terms Planning, replenishment & spend Own min/max levels, reorder triggers, and replenishment logic; balance buffers against storage in a volatile lumber/steel market Prepare the weekly spend plan from quoted pricing for management review and approval every Friday; track plan vs. actual Commit material-availability dates to the Production Manager before manufacturing orders are released; escalate shortage risk same-day ERP data custodianship Incorporate Engineering's signed-off BOMs into the ERP — products, structures, costs — and return sourcing-feasibility feedback (pricing, lead times, minimums, substitutes) within 5 business days Process BOM revisions for design changes: ERP updated within 48 hours, cost and open-PO impact stated Track actual vs. planned material consumption from manufacturing orders; report variance with root causes Supply live vendor pricing and lead-time data to Engineering for estimates Until our Engineer seat is filled: co-steward BOM development with our design team, with authorship transferring to Engineering when staffed Inventory oversight & process Functionally oversee our

Inventory Specialist:

receiving (quantity received vs. ordered, same-day logging), material issuance to the floor, and cycle counts Own inventory data integrity: set count schedules, investigate discrepancies, post adjustments, audit transactions weekly Co-write, train, and audit the SOPs connecting receiving → floor operations → inventory updates; mentor the Inventory Specialist's growth Reporting & collaboration Deliver the weekly one-pager: stockout risks, PO on-time %, spend vs. plan, inventory accuracy, BOM variance, contract pipeline Join the daily production standup and the twice-weekly design-materials-production sync Cover gaps outside your lane as our lean team requires — while protecting the three things that stop the line: the weekly buy, receiving discipline, and BOM currency Experience 3-5+ years running a purchasing desk (POs, vendors, expediting, negotiation) for a manufacturer, distributor, or construction operation — or military supply/logistics equivalent Hands-on ERP purchasing/inventory experience, or strong experience on a comparable system with a demonstrated record of learning new systems fast Working knowledge of BOM structures and material planning; comfort turning an engineering BOM into clean ERP data US construction-materials literacy (lumber callouts, sheet goods, windows/doors, MEP components) — tested at interview; judgment enough to propose substitutions when designs shift Relentless follow-up habits and clear communication across engineering, production, and vendors Thrives in ambiguity: our designs are living documents; we need someone energized, not paralyzed, by mid-build changes
