Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
An Inventory Manager typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials (steel, aluminum, sheet metal, etc.), hardware, consumables, and finished products.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and overages.
  • Ensure proper labeling, organization, and traceability of materials.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and project managers to forecast material needs.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials for fabrication jobs and work orders.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent downtime or overstock
  • Oversee warehouse layout and storage systems for efficient material handling.
  • Ensure safe and compliant storage of materials, including heavy stock and hazardous items.
  • Manage receiving, staging, and issuing processes for all inventory items.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track transactions and stock movements.
  • Generate inventory reports, usage trends, and cost analyses for leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline inventory processes.
  • Supervise warehouse and inventory staff as applicable.
  • Train team members in inventory procedures, safety standards, and system use.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and organization within the warehouse.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for material deliveries, returns, and quality issues.
  • Support purchasing decisions by providing accurate inventory data and demand forecasts.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of inventory or warehouse management experience, ideally in fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control practices and material handling.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory systems and implementation of new systems
  • Ability to operate forklifts or willingness to become certified.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
  • Familiarity with fabrication materials, job shop workflows, and production scheduling.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
  • OSHA or safety training background.
