The Logistics & Shipping Manager oversees the shipping process, ensuring that goods are transported efficiently and cost-effectively. Responsibilities include coordinating shipments, managing inventory, negotiating with carriers, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The manager will analyze data to optimize logistics operations, handle customer inquiries, and address any issues that arise during shipping.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage & direct all Shipping Staff including Shipping Clerks, Transfer CDL Truck Drivers, Leads, and ASRS Operators. Oversee & manage appointments for incoming & outgoing trucks and transfers in coordination with the sales department. Maintain effective communication with sales, production teams, and transportation companies to ensure timely and accurate scheduling & movement of fruit. Ensure that shipments are executed on time by coordinating the movement of pallets and managing shipment schedules. Oversee the movement of pallets from cold storage and the ASRS, ensuring proper handling and temperature maintenance. Supervise the operations of the Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) to optimize storage and retrieval efficiency. Ensure efficient transport of pallets of fruit to be shipped on trucks, coordinating with forklift drivers and other personnel. Coordinate with QC & QC Management to effectively ship fruit while maintaining quality standards for shipment. Assign and manage forklift driver tasks to ensure timely and accurate movement of pallets. Train and oversee staff in best practices for handling, storing, and transporting goods to ensure safety and efficiency. Monitor, develop, and evaluate the performance of team members, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of shipping and logistics operations. Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate tracking of goods within the storage and retrieval systems. Allocate resources effectively to meet shipping deadlines and maintain operational flow. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including health, safety, and environmental guidelines. Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and goods, and maintain a safe working environment. Address and resolve any issues or incidents related to logistics and shipping operations promptly and effectively. Analyze logistics data and generate reports on shipping performance, inventory levels, and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and other logistics-related documentation. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the status of logistics and shipping operations. Work as a team and develops a culture of teamwork within team Assist with the Observational portion of Forklift Certification Training Backup for Shipping Manager responsibilities as needed Be knowledgeable of and process FITOs as needed. Follow all Food Safety & Plant Safety requirements and adhere to the Company Handbook Other Duties as assigned.Work Environment/Physical Requirements :
Must be able to work inside an office setting Must be able to sit for long periods of time Must be able to work in outside environment Must be able to stand for long periods of time Must be able to effectively communicate using a radio and phone You must have 20/20 visual acuity in each eye, corrected or uncorrected Temperatures can be cold (33-35 degrees Fahrenheit) in the ASRS and on the shipping floor Use of both hands to complete tasks Must have good written and verbal communication skills Must have good hand dexterityExperience/Education:
HS Diploma/GED required Bilingual Spanish/English required An analytical mind with strong attention to detail Excellent communication and leadership abilities Ability to execute in high-pressure situations Capability to prioritize tasks Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to identify troublesome areas of system operations. Exhibit knowledge of preventive maintenance tasks and intervals. Experience with operation and maintenance of conveyor/automated systems. Ability to work in a self-directed manner in a team-based environment while supporting ASRS system operators when needed. Experience with computer systems and PC applications is essential Familiarity with inventory management applications preferred An understanding of logistics in production setting preferredJob Type:
