Job Description

Overview Acme United Corporation, a leading medical CPG manufacturer, seeks a Supply Chain Planner to manage end-to-end procurement and first aid product changes. You'll source materials, support cross-functional projects from concept to implementation, and serve as the liaison between suppliers, operations, marketing, and quality. This role requires strong project management capabilities, ownership of select first aid procurement requirements, and the ability to balance cost, quality, schedule, and delivery objectives. Beyond traditional purchasing, you'll demonstrate proven expertise in procurement, risk management, and execution of complex supply chain projects. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Inventory Management (50% of time) Review recommendation reports and analyze forecasts, BOMs, and planning parameters to determine purchasing needs (including ~2,000 SKUs across 50+ suppliers, including tiered-buy strategies.) Maintain all master data for SKU's including accurate lead times, safety stocks, and planning settings within ERP/MRP systems. Build and maintain productive, long-term supplier relationships to support reliability, quality, and cost efficiency. Monitor inventory performance including turns, aging, expiration, and obsolescence risk. Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration (25% of time) Lead procurement activities for new product introductions, capital projects, and strategic initiatives. Work with Marketing, Production, and Customer Service to ensure supply supports business commitments. Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and action plans. Prepare and issue Change Notices for new or modified products & manage project deliverables. Supplier Development & Risk Management (15% of time) Drive supplier onboarding and qualification activities. Obtain required documentation such as certificates of compliance, sterility, and analysis. Report issues and request CAPAs from suppliers as needed. Track and communicate supplier performance metrics (lead times, fill rates, responsiveness, quality). Identify supply chain risks, develop contingency plans, and implement proactive mitigation strategies. Data Analysis & Reporting (10% of time) Analyze spend data and procurement metrics. Track project KPIs, supplier performance, cost savings, and delivery performance. Prepare reports and presentations for management review. Maintain accurate ERP/MRP purchasing parameters. Support new procurement software/automation as part of ongoing Digital Transformation initiatives. Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost optimization. Qualifications Required Education / Experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related business field. Direct buying/purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (required) with a high level of accuracy and accountability. Supply planning and hands-on analysis of forecasts and BOMs in a manufacturing context. Experience working independently, managing multiple priorities, and translating data into actionable supply decisions. Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail required. Preferred Experience Experience in CPG, cGMP, ISO-certified, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments. Global purchasing experience, including long-term partnerships with international suppliers. Project management of new products from inception to fruition. PMP certification. Technical Skills Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as Syspro, Oracle, SAP, or MS Dynamics. Strong Excel proficiency. Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
