ABOUT THE ROLE
Ideal Crane Rental is looking for a Parts Manager to oversee the purchasing, organization, inventory, and distribution of parts needed to maintain our fleet of cranes and lifting equipment. This is a hands-on role working closely with technicians, mechanics, operators, vendors, and management to make sure the right parts are available when needed and equipment downtime is minimized.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Parts & Inventory Manage daily parts operations and inventory. Identify and source parts for cranes, lifts, trucks, and related equipment. Research part numbers, availability, pricing, and alternatives. Order parts from manufacturers, dealers, and vendors. Receive, organize, and distribute parts to technicians and service personnel. Maintain accurate inventory levels and identify critical or frequently used parts. Track special orders, backorders, returns, and core charges. Maintain an organized and efficient parts area. Purchasing & Vendor Management Develop and maintain relationships with parts suppliers and vendors. Obtain quotes and compare pricing, availability, and delivery times. Monitor orders and follow up on delays or discrepancies. Identify cost-saving opportunities and appropriate parts alternatives. Help establish and maintain preferred vendor relationships. Service & Operations Support Work closely with technicians and mechanics to identify parts needed for repairs. Prioritize parts needs based on equipment availability and scheduled jobs. Help minimize equipment downtime by coordinating parts quickly and accurately. Communicate parts availability and delivery timelines to service and operations. Support the team with parts-related questions and troubleshooting. Documentation & Administration Maintain accurate parts, purchasing, and inventory records. Enter purchase orders, receipts, and parts information into company systems. Monitor inventory costs and usage. Assist with tracking warranty parts and returns. Maintain accurate documentation for billing and accounting.
Required:
Previous experience in parts, inventory, purchasing, or equipment-related operations. Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills. Comfortable using computers and learning new software. Ability to research parts and identify the correct component for a repair. Strong communication and vendor/customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
Experience with cranes, aerial lifts, heavy equipment, trucks, or industrial equipment. Mechanical or equipment knowledge. Experience with parts inventory or purchasing software. Experience in equipment rental, construction, trucking, or fleet maintenance.
