Flatbed and van are specialized transportation modes, and managing an independent contractor fleet requires a unique combination of operational expertise, relationship management, and problem-solving. As a Fleet Manager on CRST's Flatbed Solutions team, you'll oversee the day-to-day performance of an independent contractor fleet. You'll be responsible for keeping freight moving, supporting contractor success, ensuring compliance, and resolving issues before they impact service. Working closely with Planning, Safety, Maintenance, and other internal partners, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for your contractors and play a key role in their overall successHOW YOU'LL WORK

Build and maintain strong relationships with independent contractors, serving as their primary point of contact. Coordinate freight movement by assigning loads, monitoring progress, and ensuring service commitments are met. Communicate proactively with contractors and internal teams to resolve issues and minimize service disruptions. Monitor contractor compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and contractual requirements. Review settlements, billing, and chargeable events to ensure financial accuracy and protect profitability. Partner with Planning, Safety, Maintenance, and other departments to support contractor success and operational efficiency. Coach contractors through performance, service, and safety challenges while promoting long-term engagement and retention.WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience in transportation, logistics, or contractor management. Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and build strong working relationships without direct authority. Working knowledge of DOT regulations and independent contractor operations. Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. High school diploma or equivalent.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing independent contractor or agent-based fleets. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and contractor management platforms. Experience in flatbed, specialized, or over-the-road transportation operations. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments while balancing operational and customer service priorities. Experience managing independent contractor or agent-based fleets.
