Full Job Description Transportation Driver:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Special Education Director, transports students to/from school and school-related activities while maintaining a safe environment. To transport students to and from school, and other sites within designated route(s) and to ensure the safety of the student passengers while in a vehicle. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class is responsible for the safe operation of a 9 passenger or less non-school bus vehicle and for ensuring the safety of student passenger while meeting established transportation schedules.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
E = Essential Duties The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Operate school vans over designated routes to transport students to/from school and school-related activities E 2. Maintain discipline and safety on the van E 3. Assist students on and off the van as necessary E 4. Report emergencies by radio and administer first aid as needed E 5. Prepare and distribute reports related to van operation and student behavior E 6. Maintain vehicle operation records such as number of passengers carried, miles traveled and fuel used E 7. Attend regularly scheduled mandated in-service meetings E 8. Communicate with school staff and parents, regarding student behavior as needed E 9. Perform related duties as required E
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Safe driving practices and techniques; effective oral and written communication skills; as well as pupil management techniques and skills; Knowledge of the provisions of the California Motor Vehicle code and the Education Code as applied to the operation of vehicles used in the transport of students
