We provide sanitary, efficient removal and recycling services to the food and feed manufacturing industries nationwide. ReConserve is seeking a Transportation Manager who prides themselves in efficiency and customer service. Transportation Manager is responsible for customer pickups at the supplier sites in a 24/7 service environment. Transportation Manager will manage company and contract CDL drivers under FMCSA and DOT guidelines; customer service; driver efficiency, and load factors. Efficiency and customer service are the keystones of our operation and the position reports to the General Manager. Five years of experience in the trucking industry and knowledge of trucking regulations required. Customer service experience and college degree desired.
Hours:
7am
  • 3:30pm, hours will fluctuate depending on customer demand. Days off
  • Weekends
  • expect light phone work with drivers .
Will commute to Ontario 1-day per week. 4-days in Los Angeles. No working from home. This is a hands-on position, that requires to be at the plant working with a team of drivers.
Key points:
5+ years in the trucking industry and knowledge of trucking regulations required, local talent only
Background/Experience:
Responsible for customer pickups at the supplier sites in a 24/7 service environment. Manage company and contract CDL drivers under FMCSA and DOT guidelines; customer service; driver efficiency, and load factors. Five years of experience in the trucking industry and knowledge of trucking regulations required. Customer service experience and college degree desired. Stable employment history, hiring drivers & owner operators, safety meetings, truck & trailer repair shop Experience with PeopleNet or similar fleet management systems preferred
ELD, GPS
tracking Experience in hazmat certifications preferred
Responsibilities:
Supports company operations by maintaining office systems and staff, reporting directly to General Manager. Services customers by arranging transportation in the most efficient manner and maintains the highest service level reasonable. Hiring of drivers, managing and hiring owner operators, following and tracking sites FMCSA scores, conducts driver safety meeting and directs the truck/trailer shop. In some cases, the manager will also oversee the maintenance and repair of customer equipment.
Dispatching:
Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning drivers, following up on work results. This includes data entry in the S2SQL system in building BOL's. Assigns out bound finish shipments, if required for that region Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing daily/weekly efficiency reports; summarizing information; identifying trends for the trucking operation Maintains Load Efficiency within maximum legal weight (including axles) Route drivers in a manner that reduces non-productive (not on the road) time Minimize driver and shop overtime Conduct safety meeting and timely incident investigations Customers are not to wait for service longer than agreed upon time. Communication between customers and dispatch is such a way that the customer always knows what they can expect and is notified when there are any changes in plans. Communicates closely with the plant manage Ensure that procedures in place are properly followed. Perform ride-a-longs with drivers to understand the job and any items to improve upon Understands the equipment used and advises for changes for the next contract renewal Knows the cost to the plant floor of material Additional responsibilities include: Back up to the GM when off site or vacations. Back up to the office manager for the following duties as needed: Providing customer service by answering customer calls and responding appropriately Preparing Time records Data Entry Input all raw material loads on a daily basis Confirm all finished feed loads on a daily basis Confirm all supplement loads as they arrive
