  • $121,209 Annually Add'l Salary Info Additional education stipend for possession of Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate Length of Work Year Classified Management-12 Month Employee Employment Type Full Time Job Summary Job Summary About the Position Paradise Unified School District (PUSD) is seeking a proven, safety-focused leader to serve as Director of Transportation.

This key leadership role provides strategic and operational oversight of all district transportation services, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of students each day. The Director of Transportation oversees bus operations, routing and scheduling, driver supervision and training, fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, and departmental budgeting. This position plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and service that supports student success. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, and manage all transportation and vehicle maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to enhance safety and efficiency. Supervise, train, and evaluate bus drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance staff.
  • Plan and oversee bus routes, schedules, and assignments for daily service and special events.
  • Ensure compliance with California Highway Patrol, DMV, and Department of Education regulations.
  • Investigate accidents and implement corrective and preventive safety measures.
  • Establish and manage preventive maintenance programs for district vehicles.
  • Prepare and administer the transportation department budget; monitor expenditures and inventory.
  • Serve as the district liaison with regulatory agencies and community partners.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports related to operations, costs, and compliance.
  • Coordinate state-required safety drills and ongoing staff certification requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience operating a school bus or working within school transportation operations, including experience in a supervisory or leadership role; AND
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Additional experience in transportation management may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Valid California School Bus Driver's Certificate
