Full-time Pay:
Competitive / DOE Reports to: Chief Operating Officer About NHT National Health Transport is one of Florida's leading private ambulance providers, delivering Advanced Life Support, Critical Care, BLS, and non-emergency transport services across five districts: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, the Treasure Coast, and Central Florida. Our fleet is the backbone of patient care, and our maintenance program keeps it ready around the clock. Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Fleet Manager to lead the maintenance and reliability of our ambulance fleet, built primarily on Ram and Ford Transit platforms. This is a working leadership role based out of our Sweetwater (Miami-Dade) headquarters and shop. You will directly supervise our in-house team of four mechanics, own our preventative maintenance program, manage the maintenance budget, and coordinate outside repair vendors across our outlying districts. The right person is comfortable on the shop floor and at the keyboard, leads by building a capable team rather than absorbing everyone's paperwork, and embraces the technology that runs a modern fleet. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the in-house mechanic team (4 technicians) in our Miami-Dade shop, including scheduling, workload assignment, coaching, and performance. Own and continuously improve NHT's preventative maintenance program to maximize vehicle uptime and safety. Manage and account for the fleet maintenance budget; track spending and identify cost-saving opportunities. Coordinate outside repair vendors in Broward, Palm Beach, the
Treasure Coast, and Central Florida:
solicit estimates, place orders, and review and approve outside repair work. Maintain accurate digital maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory; hold the team accountable for timely, complete documentation. Administer and grow in-house use of our Samsara telematics platform (vehicle health, diagnostics, utilization, and compliance reporting). Ensure all vehicles meet applicable safety, DOT, and state regulatory standards. Manage warranty claims, recalls, and vendor relationships for parts and service. Partner with district directors and operations leadership to keep the right vehicles in service where they are needed. Required Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with a Spanish-speaking technician team. (Required.) Proven hands-on automotive or fleet maintenance background; you are comfortable diagnosing problems and working alongside your mechanics, not just behind a desk. Supervisory or team-leadership experience, with a track record of delegating and holding a team accountable rather than doing the work for them.
Comfort with technology:
telematics or fleet-management software, digital work orders, and computer-based recordkeeping and reporting. Experience managing a maintenance budget and working with outside repair vendors. Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Able to work full-time, on-site in Sweetwater, FL. Preferred Qualifications ASE certifications (Automotive Service Excellence), including Medium/Heavy Truck or Master Technician credentials. Experience maintaining ambulances or emergency vehicles (preferred, not required). Direct experience with Samsara or similar telematics platforms. Familiarity with Ram and Ford Transit chassis and upfit systems. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This role is based in an active maintenance shop and requires the ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and work around vehicles and shop equipment. It combines shop-floor work with management and administrative duties. i5EpDbZdZY
