Job Description

Transportation Manager Lead Transportation Operations. Drive Safety, Service, and Performance We are seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to lead dedicated fleet operations at our distribution center. This role is responsible for overseeing drivers, dispatching, routing, delivery planning, fleet performance, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, reliable, timely, and cost-effective service to our customers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on transportation leader who understands the demands of fleet operations, can effectively coach and manage drivers, and knows how to balance safety, customer service, productivity, and cost control. You will work closely with warehouse operations, maintenance, customer service, sales, and other partners to keep transportation operations running efficiently. What You'll Do Transportation Operations & Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day transportation operations, including driver supervision, dispatching, routing, scheduling, and delivery planning.
  • Plan and coordinate deliveries, backhauls, and for-hire cartage to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs.
  • Develop efficient routing and shipping strategies that optimize equipment, driver utilization, and available resources.
  • Manage daily dispatch operations to meet delivery schedules while maintaining high standards for safety, accuracy, and customer service.
  • Coach, support, and hold drivers accountable to company expectations, safety standards, and operational goals.
  • Build strong working relationships with warehouse management, maintenance, sales, customers, and other cross-functional partners. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, security, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS), trip reporting, ELD records, and required documentation. Investigate and appropriately address accidents, injuries, safety incidents, and operational concerns. Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and that preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and required inspections are completed on schedule. Identify compliance or safety risks and take timely corrective action. Performance & Financial Management
  • Monitor transportation performance, costs, and operational metrics.
  • Develop and maintain reporting for key measures such as: Cost per mile Operating ratio Driver and equipment utilization Equipment availability Delivery accuracy and timeliness Customer satisfaction Analyze transportation activities and implement improvements that increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve service.
Support fleet budgets, cost controls, productivity initiatives, and company transportation objectives. Process Improvement
  • Develop, maintain, and improve transportation policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve routing, scheduling, equipment utilization, driver productivity, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Partner with internal teams to quickly resolve transportation issues and minimize service disruptions.
  • Adapt transportation plans and schedules as customer needs, operational requirements, weather, or other conditions change. What You Bring
  • 5+ years of transportation planning, logistics, dispatch, or fleet operations experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation operations and fleet management.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA, OSHA, HOS, and transportation safety requirements.
  • Experience with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems.
  • Experience with Omnitracs, BigRoad, or similar ELD/transportation software preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures, policies, and government regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, managers, customers, clients, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong commitment to safety, compliance, customer service, and operational excellence. Schedule & Availability The general schedule is Monday through Friday , with flexibility required based on business needs. The Transportation Manager must be available for occasional evening and weekend on-call support to address time-sensitive situations such as equipment breakdowns, weather emergencies, and other transportation-related issues. Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
