Lead Driver / Assistant Manager Brilliant Ground Solutions - FedEx Ground Independent Service Provider Position Overview Brilliant Ground Solutions is seeking a dependable, hands-on Lead Driver / Assistant Manager to help lead our pickup and delivery (P&D) operation. This is a working leadership position responsible for supporting daily dispatch, driver leadership, route planning, training, and on-road problem solving. This position will also routinely operate a delivery route, fill in for drivers who are off, and ride along with drivers who need training, coaching, or additional support. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily scheduling, dispatch, and route assignments. Help plan, balance, and optimize routes based on volume and staffing. Routinely operate an assigned delivery route as part of the position. Fill in for drivers who are absent, on PTO, or otherwise unavailable. Cover overflow and Peak routes when additional capacity is needed. Ride along with drivers for training, onboarding, coaching, or additional operational support. Monitor routes and resolve urgent driver, pickup, and service issues. Coordinate rescues and route adjustments when needed. Train and onboard new drivers. Monitor attendance and approve routine schedule adjustments. Coach drivers on safety, service, productivity, and customer experience. Conduct safety observations and document performance concerns. Recommend recognition, additional training, corrective action, or staffing changes. Escalate serious safety, conduct, customer, vehicle, or service issues to senior management. Final hiring, termination, compensation, and formal disciplinary decisions remain with authorized Brilliant Ground Solutions management unless otherwise assigned. Qualifications FedEx Ground P&D experience strongly preferred. Lead Driver or similar leadership experience preferred. Strong route planning and problem-solving skills. DRO / route optimization experience is a plus. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Able and willing to drive routes regularly as part of the normal job responsibilities.
