Full Job Description Position Description:
The Transportation Data Technician is responsible for the overall execution of the daily activities of the Transportation Department to include the electronic preparation and processing of various reports, compilation of statistical data, and maintenance of appropriate files. The Transportation Data Technician shall act as a representative of the Executive Director of Transportation and have the ability to communicate intelligently with all stakeholders and vendors regarding policies and procedures of the department.
Scope of Responsibility:
Prioritizes, screens, and distributes all telephone calls and incoming mail for the Department of Transportation. Supports the Department of Transportation through clerical activities to include the routine flow of work, correspondence, request for information, and coordination with all personnel within the department. Answers inquiries from general public and other personnel. Executes all timekeeping and supplemental payroll for bus personnel in the Transportation Department. Processes and maintains personnel documents related to attendance, training, seniority, and related confidential matters for bus personnel and prospective employees as well as follows office procedures in order to protect privacy. Processes and maintains employment applications and departmental training calendar as well as schedules interviews for current and prospective bus personnel. Calculates fuel allotment in addition to monitoring fuel usage, reporting discrepancies, and reviewing mileage and trip sheets for accuracy and efficiency. Maintains inventory of fuel cards and push-to-talk phones and addresses all relative issues for the Transportation Department. Acquires approvals for payment of fuel invoices for the Transportation Department and requests payment from all departments using the Department of Transportation fuel account. Updates and maintains Transportation Department newsletter and webpage as well as issues dispatch information to all stakeholders. Maintains student information and personnel documents related to attendance, evaluations, and related confidential matters as well as follows office procedures in order to protect privacy. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Transportation. 2
Skills and Qualifications:
We seek detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate or possess: 3+ years of progressively increasing clerical experience. Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture- creator that can inspire and motivate. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations. Collaborative management style, with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results. High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking. Experience in producing letters, memos, charts, and tables using Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Power Point & Publisher. Experience in utilizing database management programs designated by the JP Shools. High School Diploma.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of school system policies and procedures. Possess office skills necessary to carry out varied responsibilities. Post secondary course work.
Physical Involvement:
Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required.
