is seeking a reliable, organised and experienced Fleet Manager to join our growing road freight transport operation on a full-time, permanent basis. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the company's road freight fleet and supporting the smooth, safe and efficient delivery of freight services. The successful applicant will manage vehicle scheduling, maintenance, driver coordination, fleet compliance, operating costs and day-to-day transport requirements. The role will work closely with drivers, customers, mechanics, suppliers and management to ensure freight operations are conducted efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and New Zealand transport requirements. Key Responsibilities The Fleet Manager will be responsible for: Planning, coordinating and monitoring the daily operation of the company's road freight fleet. Scheduling vehicles and drivers to ensure freight is collected and delivered efficiently and within agreed timeframes. Coordinating freight movements, delivery schedules, routes and vehicle allocation. Monitoring vehicle availability and ensuring vehicles are appropriately allocated to freight requirements. Coordinating regular servicing, maintenance, repairs and inspections of company vehicles. Developing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules to minimise vehicle downtime. Monitoring vehicle registrations, WoFs, licensing, insurance and other fleet compliance requirements. Maintaining accurate records relating to vehicles, maintenance, servicing, inspections, fuel use and compliance. Monitoring fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation and operating costs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. Liaising with mechanics, workshops, suppliers and other service providers regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance. Communicating with drivers regarding schedules, routes, vehicle requirements and operational matters. Supporting the recruitment, induction, training and performance management of drivers where required. Monitoring driver performance and ensuring drivers follow company policies, safety procedures and operational requirements. Ensuring vehicles are operated and maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition. Supporting compliance with relevant New Zealand road transport, health and safety and employment requirements. Investigating vehicle breakdowns, accidents, incidents, customer complaints and operational issues and reporting them to management. Coordinating appropriate corrective action following vehicle incidents or operational problems. Working with customers and management to understand freight requirements and ensure appropriate vehicles and resources are available. Assisting with route planning and identifying opportunities to reduce unnecessary travel, fuel consumption and operating costs. Monitoring delivery performance and identifying delays or issues affecting customer service. Preparing regular fleet, maintenance, fuel, driver and operational reports for management. Maintaining up-to-date fleet records and operational documentation. Assisting management with fleet purchasing, vehicle replacement and disposal decisions when required.
