POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse and Transportation Coordinator oversees daily transportation and warehouse operations to ensure efficient, timely delivery of goods. This role involves managing staff, optimizing delivery routes, and maintaining high safety and compliance standards in a cold environment. Strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to handle both people and processes in a fast-paced setting are essential.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Staff & Operations Oversight Oversee and manage transportation and warehouse staff, ensuring all daily tasks and routes are completed efficiently and on time Supervise loader performance, manage the shipping workflow, and ensure accurate and timely truck loading and unloading Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure smooth loading and unloading processes, particularly in cold storage conditions Safety & Compliance Monitor and enforce adherence to transportation policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, including DOT regulations and cold chain logistics Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance Promote a culture of safety within the transportation and warehouse teams; investigate accidents or incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence Route Planning & Logistics Develop and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs Coordinate with the assistant manager to adjust routes as needed due to changes in customer requirements or unforeseen circumstances Team Leadership & Development Direct, train, and develop transportation and warehouse team members Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions as necessary Communication & Stakeholder Management Act as the primary point of contact between the transportation department and other internal teams, customers, and external vendors Ensure clear communication and resolution of any transportation or warehouse-related issues Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Logistics Transportation Coordinator on come & carry out operations to ensure alignment on scheduling, inventory availability, and customer needs Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, vendors, and customers, to ensure smooth operations and address any issues promptly Fleet, Records & Technology Oversee the regular maintenance of the vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles are in good working condition Maintain accurate records of all transportation and warehouse activities, including trip logs, fuel usage, vehicle maintenance, and inventory levels Prepare regular reports on performance metrics for management Utilize technology, including GPS systems and transportation management software, to track deliveries, manage schedules, and generate reports Required Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in transportation or logistics Proven experience in route planning and optimization Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation safety standards, and cold chain logistics Excellent leadership and team management abilities Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and team-building skills, both written and verbal Ability to manage multiple tasks on an ongoing basis Proficiency in transportation management software and GPS systems Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment Preferred Certifications in logistics or cold chain management training Bertolino Foods is seeking an experienced Warehouse and Transportation Coordinator to lead daily warehouse and transportation operations at our Peabody, MA, facility.
