Fleet Manager
Job Description
Overview We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and performance of our vehicle fleet. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing drivers, vehicles, schedules, and compliance requirements. This position also requires the ability to cover transportation runs when needed. Responsibilities Manage daily fleet operations and vehicle assignments. Coordinate driver schedules, routes, and vehicle availability. Cover scheduled transportation runs when needed due to staffing shortages, call-outs, or operational needs. Monitor vehicle maintenance, inspections, repairs, and service schedules. Maintain accurate fleet records, registrations, and documentation. Ensure compliance with DOT, safety, and company policies. Monitor fuel usage, mileage, vehicle performance, and operating costs. Coordinate with mechanics, vendors, and service providers. Address vehicle or driver issues promptly and efficiently. Conduct or coordinate regular vehicle safety inspections. Help reduce fleet expenses while maintaining safety and reliability. Provide reports and updates to management as needed. Qualifications 2+ years of fleet management, transportation, logistics, or related experience preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple vehicles and drivers simultaneously. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and transportation safety requirements. Willingness and ability to drive and cover runs as needed. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work flexible hours when operational needs require. Proficiency with computers and fleet-management software.
