The company's main shop is located in Essex MD, with the majority of the work performed on military bases through Central-Southern MD, Northern VA, Eastern PA, and Southern NJ. As a requirement of employment, travel may be necessary to various job sites in these areas. We are looking for an assertive Shop & Fleet Manager to direct receiving, inventory control, and distribution operations from our home office in Essex. This role oversees a handful of team members, directing their daily activities and driving productivity. In addition to the shop duties, this person is responsible for fleet management company wide. This includes using tracking software and other applications to plan routine maintenance, track ongoing issues, and file reports with various agencies such as the FMCSA. Responsibilities Coordinate daily with Operations Manager to plan incoming/outgoing deliveries, routes, and assignments. Oversee daily receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations for company equipment and vehicles. Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures. Maintain timekeeping for employees working in the warehouse and turn in weekly timesheets. Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping requirements. Help calculate weight when loading trucks. Communicate with suppliers, superintendents, and transport companies. Produce reports and inventory status regularly (equipment repair tracking, inventory control, etc.). Run annual driving record checks for all drivers (CDL & non-CDL) Maintain DOT medical certs, annual driving records and track any offenses. FMCSA Clearinghouse Annual Inquires. Random DOT Drug/Alcohol Program. Track and file DOT paper logs. Check tracking software portals daily. Troubleshoot any issues and order replacements as needed.
FMCSA/DOT
File form MCS 150 bi-annually. Renew UCR annually. Track and schedule annual DOT Inspections for vehicles and trailers. Skills Basic computer skills and ability to effectively use MS Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong leadership skills, including goal setting, motivation and training (3 years in supervisor role overseeing a team is most preferred) Advanced knowledge of inventory/warehousing practices and vehicle maintenance programs. Ability to analyze transportation data Familiarity with maintenance scheduling and management software Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed Good problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills Exceptional organization, time management and multitasking abilities Forklift Experience Applicants must possess a valid Driver's License and a reliable mode of transportation. The position that is currently open is full-time and will be scheduled Monday-Friday, day shift.
