Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and strategic Transportation Manager to oversee all aspects of our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating logistics, managing transportation staff, and ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of transportation regulations and industry best practices. The Transportation Manager will play a critical role in optimizing supply chain processes, reducing costs, and maintaining high safety standards across all transportation activities. Duties Develop and implement transportation strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Oversee daily operations of the transportation department, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching. Manage a team of drivers and logistics personnel, providing training, support, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety regulations. Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, and customers to ensure timely delivery of goods. Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and manage fleet management programs. Analyze transportation data to identify areas for process improvement and cost savings. Prepare reports on transportation performance metrics for senior management review. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits to promote a safe working environment. Experience A Minimum of 5 years of management experience in transportation. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in planning and execution. Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing operational needs. Relevant certifications such as Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or similar are a plus.
