Job Description

Terminal/Driver Manager - Manson, NC Join Our Team and Drive Success! Are you an experienced transportation professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for operational excellence? Swing Transport is seeking a highly motivated Terminal/Driver Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Manson, NC terminal . This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient terminal operations, effective driver management, exceptional customer service, and compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. As a Terminal/Driver Manager, you will lead by example, support our drivers and customers, and contribute directly to the success and growth of our operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Terminal & Operations Management Oversee daily terminal operations to ensure efficient execution of customer commitments and operational goals. Coordinate dispatch activities and ensure fair, effective driver assignments while maximizing productivity and service levels. Monitor workflow and proactively address operational challenges to minimize disruptions. Driver Leadership & Development Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding operational concerns, performance expectations, and support needs. Onboard, train, coach, and develop drivers to promote a positive work environment and improve retention. Conduct driver meetings, performance reviews, and corrective action discussions when necessary. Customer Relationship Management Maintain strong relationships with customers by ensuring service expectations are met or exceeded. Communicate proactively regarding operational issues, service updates, and problem resolution. Collaborate with customers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Equipment & Asset Utilization Manage tractor and trailer utilization to optimize productivity, reduce downtime, and support revenue objectives. Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and necessary repairs with maintenance providers to ensure equipment readiness. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations, including Hours of Service requirements, driver qualification standards, and company safety policies. Conduct safety meetings, audits, and investigations as required. Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Performance Management & Reporting Monitor key performance indicators including driver productivity, equipment utilization, service performance, and operational efficiency. Analyze operational data and implement improvements to enhance performance and profitability. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to terminal operations. Problem Solving & Decision Making Address operational challenges quickly and effectively through sound judgment and strategic thinking. Resolve driver, customer, and operational issues professionally and efficiently.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation operations, dispatch, logistics, terminal management, or a related leadership role within the trucking industry. Experience supervising and managing CDL drivers preferred. Proficiency with transportation management systems, with strong preference given to experience using McLeod Software . Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite , including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Working knowledge of transportation technology systems, including Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), driver safety camera platforms, and trailer tracking software. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make effective operational decisions. Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation industry best practices. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling personnel matters. Why Join Swing Transport?
