Position Summary As the Superintendent - Station Finishes , you will take total ownership of planning, coordinating, and supervising all station architectural and finish work. You will provide daily field leadership for interior station construction activities, managing everything from premium architectural installations to the final turnover.
You will work closely with project management, subcontractors, owners, consultants, and inspection agencies to ensure all work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Field Supervision:
Manage and supervise all station finish activities from rough-in through final completion.
Architectural Elements:
Coordinate the installation of tile, terrazzo, stone, masonry, metal panels, ceilings, architectural concrete, doors, hardware, signage, wayfinding systems, and platform finishes.
Scheduling & Syncing:
Develop short-term look-ahead schedules and seamlessly coordinate daily work with MEP, systems, structural, and civil construction teams.
Subcontractor Leadership:
Lead daily field activities and subcontractor coordination meetings. Monitor manpower levels, production rates, and performance.
Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and sequencing challenges. Implement recovery plans when milestones are threatened.
Quality & Turnover:
Conduct regular QC inspections, manage punch list development, fix deficiencies, and verify closeout documentation for final project turnover.
Safety & Reporting:
Maintain a strict zero-incident safe work environment. Prepare daily reports documenting progress, manpower, equipment, and field issues.
Job Requirements Experience:
Minimum 12 years of Superintendent/supervisory experience , preferably with a major General Contractor.
Project Track Record:
Proven experience on transit, railroad, airport, transportation infrastructure, or mega commercial projects.
Agency Familiarity:
Experience working with agencies like the Port Authority, MTA, Amtrak, NYC Transit, LIRR, NJ Transit , or major airport authorities.
Technical Mastery:
Deep knowledge of station architectural systems, finish sequencing, ADA compliance, and public-facing infrastructure environments.
Certifications:
OSHA 30 Certification and an active NYC SST Supervisor Card are required.
Logistics:
Experience with phased construction and maintaining operations in active, live transportation facilities.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering is highly preferred.
Skills:
