Job Description
Traffic Safety Service (TSS) is a leading provider of work zone protection, emergency lane closures, and traffic control services across New Jersey and the surrounding region. With a fleet of 100+ vehicles, certified Traffic Control Coordinators, and 24/7 emergency response, we support utility companies, contractors, and public agencies with safe, reliable, and compliant traffic control operations. We are seeking a high-caliber Assistant Operations Manager to support daily operational oversight for our Lane Closure Division. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands traffic control operations, and can manage complex scheduling, logistics, and documentation with precision.
Key Responsibilities Operational Management & Scheduling:
- Coordinate daily and weekly scheduling for lane closures, flagging crews, TCCs, and equipment deployment.
- Manage emergency response scheduling and ensure rapid mobilization for utility and agency requests.
- Monitor crew availability, certifications, and readiness.
Bids, Quotes & Contract Support:
- Prepare bid packages, cost estimates, and lane closure quotes based on project requirements.
- Review project scopes and perform accurate MPT take-offs.
- Interpret NJDOT, NJTA, and municipal traffic control standards.
- Work with clients to clarify specifications, pricing, and scheduling expectations.
Logistics & Field Coordination:
- Oversee equipment allocation including trucks, signs, cones, and message boards.
- Ensure proper staging, delivery, and retrieval of equipment for all closures.
- Coordinate with TCCs & field employees to maintain safety, compliance, and quality standards.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records for lane closures, crew assignments, equipment usage, and incident reports.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, MUTCD, NJDOT, and agency-specific requirements.
Communication & Leadership:
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, field personnel, and internal departments.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to TCCs & laborers.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and performance management.
Qualifications:
- Experience in traffic control, or construction operations.
- Proven ability to manage scheduling, field operations and multi-team coordination.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high demand environment.
- Proficiency with Excel, Oracle Netsuite, Word, Adobe.
- Valid drivers license, TCC certification a plus.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:
