This role involves overseeing traffic control operations for construction projects, managing a team of traffic control personnel, and collaborating closely with construction crews, safety teams, and local authorities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operation, and a passion for maintaining safe work zones in outdoor civil infrastructure environments. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of highway maintenance and road construction projects. Duties Supervise and coordinate traffic control activities across multiple construction sites to ensure smooth vehicle and pedestrian flow within work zones. Lead a team of traffic control personnel, providing training on safety protocols, proper use of hand tools, and equipment operation. Oversee the setup and removal of traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging equipment in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Monitor heavy equipment operations including dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, front loader truck, dump truck, and paving machinery to support road construction activities. Ensure compliance with safety standards related to heavy lifting, mechanical knowledge requirements, utility locating, welding, and power tools usage on-site. Maintain detailed records of daily operations, incident reports, safety inspections, and site audits. Collaborate with project managers to plan traffic detours or lane closures during construction projects while adhering to all safety protocols. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards related to heavy equipment operation or outdoor work conditions and implement corrective actions promptly. Qualifications Proven experience in traffic control supervision within civil infrastructure or highway maintenance projects. Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, grader operation, and front loader trucks. Familiarity with FMCSA regulations governing commercial truck driving and safety standards for work zones. Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for maintenance or setup tasks. Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols including utility locating and welding procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Prior experience working on construction projects involving road construction or highway maintenance is highly preferred. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise a team effectively. Valid driver's license suitable for operating commercial trucks; CDL certification is a plus but not mandatory.
