Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Fleet Service Manager to lead our vehicle and equipment maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management, repair, and upkeep of a diverse fleet that includes heavy machinery, trucks, trailers, and various industrial equipment. Responsibilities Coordinate and supervise all aspects of fleet maintenance, including scheduled inspections, repairs, and emergency services for trucks, trailers, forklifts, excavators, cranes, and other heavy machinery. Lead a team of service technicians and mechanics by providing guidance on diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools. Manage vendor relationships for parts procurement and service contracts to ensure timely availability of quality components such as transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, shocks & struts, and electrical systems. Oversee compliance with safety regulations related to vehicle operation and maintenance procedures; ensure adherence to industry standards such as HVAC systems repair, diesel engine repair, suspension systems, tire service, and welding. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities using fleet management software; track service history to optimize vehicle uptime and lifespan. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency through effective equipment repair practices and proactive maintenance schedules. Ensure team members are trained on the latest automotive diagnostics techniques and heavy equipment operation standards to uphold safety and quality standards. Qualifications Proven experience in dealership or heavy equipment service management with a strong background in automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems repair, and vehicle maintenance. Extensive knowledge of fabrication processes, heavy truck repair including diesel mechanics, transmissions, suspension systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery or industrial equipment is highly desirable. Familiarity with schematics interpretation for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of technicians; excellent organizational skills for scheduling maintenance activities. Ability to work with hand tools, power tools and welding equipment safely while adhering to safety protocols. Knowledge of vehicle systems including air brakes, alignment procedures, shocks & struts replacement; experience with automotive electrical system repair is a plus. Mechanical aptitude combined with excellent communication skills; ability to train staff on technical procedures related to heavy lifting or tire service.
