Vestal Asphalt Inc., a leader in pavement preservation and construction services, seeks an experienced Project Superintendent / Field Operations Leader with a strong background in heavy highway projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful execution of projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet quality, schedule, and budgetary standards. This role requires effective leadership over medium to large crews and expertise in managing project schedules and materials. In this role, you will have direct access to ownership—at Vestal Asphalt, you aren't a number on a spreadsheet; you're a key partner in our operational success. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's demonstrated leadership capabilities and project management experience.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide expertise in managing high-stakes contracts with rigorous regulatory and quality standards (DOT, Municipal, or similar). Perform project planning, estimating, and scheduling to meet client specifications and deadlines. Oversee project budgets, ensuring efficiency and timely completion. Lead medium to large personnel groups, fostering a professional and motivating culture to ensure project success, consistency, and continuity. Manage subcontractors, ensuring quality and compliance with project specifications. Coordinate and communicate effectively with inspectors throughout the project lifecycle. Adhere to all applicable regulations for safe working practices and protection of employees, the community, and the environment on job sites.

Requirements:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Project Lead, Superintendent, or Operations role. Heavy Highway experience is a plus, but we prioritize elite leadership and contract management skills above all else. Strong background in managing project schedules, budgets, and deadlines. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Knowledge of highway traffic control, MUTCD, and experience with work zone setup. Familiarity with state inspection processes and requirements. Proficiency with office equipment and digital tools for efficient project documentation. Willingness to travel and stay out of town during the week as required by project needs. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Occasional moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.
