This full-time, hands-on supervisory role involves leading the department's daily operations, supervising staff, maintaining roads and infrastructure, managing equipment and vehicles, coordinating snow and ice removal efforts, and supporting general public works activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of public works operations, and a commitment to maintaining safe and efficient township infrastructure. Duties Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Road Department staff, ensuring efficient and effective operations. Plan, prioritize, and oversee maintenance and repair of township roads, bridges, and related infrastructure. Manage the operation and maintenance of departmental vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and reliability. Coordinate snow plowing, ice control, and other winter weather response activities to ensure safe road conditions during adverse weather. Assist with general public works projects including drainage improvements, signage installation, and other infrastructure needs. Develop work schedules, assign tasks, monitor progress, and evaluate employee performance. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and departmental policies. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment usage, and departmental reports. Collaborate with township officials on project planning and budget considerations related to public works. Skills Proven experience in road maintenance, construction management, or public works supervision. Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff effectively while fostering teamwork. Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety standards relevant to public works departments. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment. Effective communication skills for coordinating with township officials, staff, contractors, and the community. Ability to troubleshoot operational issues quickly and implement practical solutions. Familiarity with local regulations governing road maintenance and public works activities is preferred. Requirements Minimum of five (5) years of experience working for a municipal road department, county highway department, state transportation agency, or comparable public works operation Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or crew leader experience , including experience directing employees, assigning work, and evaluating employee performance Valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement required This position offers an opportunity for a motivated professional committed to serving the community through effective management of township infrastructure projects and operations.
