Transportation Coordinator

American Steel is looking to add a Transportation Coordinator to our growing team. The ideal candidate for this position will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role plays a key part in supporting our Customer Service Group (CSG) by coordinating transportation documentation, assisting drivers and customers, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring efficient daily operations. Successful candidates will have strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to safety and customer service. Prior shipping, receiving, logistics, or transportation experience is preferred. Pre hire drug and background screening are required.

4:00 AM - 12:30 PM Essential Functions & Responsibilities Create manifests and bills of lading while assisting with inventory troubleshooting and research Process purchase orders, buy outs, fab orders, transfers, direct ships, test orders, and billing-only orders Coordinate and distribute sales/work orders and interdepartmental paperwork accurately and efficiently Provide front-line support at the CSG counter by assisting drivers and customers with delivery and pickup documentation Resolve routing and shipping-related issues in a timely manner Prepare paperwork and complete STELplan system entries for transportation and logistics transactions Conduct daily warehouse inventory cycle counts and resolve discrepancies Provide backup support for key Customer Service Group functions including Dispatcher and Inbound Clerk duties Follow all company safety procedures, operational policies, and quality standards Support the team in achieving maximum customer satisfaction while maintaining a positive and professional attitude Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Minimum 1 year of general office experience required Prior shipping, receiving, logistics, transportation, or steel industry experience preferred Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Effective problem-solving and research skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment General math and computer proficiency required 10-key by touch preferred Ability to work safely in a warehouse and plant environment Work Environment This position operates in a fast-paced steel service center environment with frequent interaction with customers, drivers, and internal departments. Daily walking throughout the facility is required, along with occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Exposure to plant conditions, temperature changes, and outdoor environments may occur.
