Job Description
Fleet Managers are the lifeline of our most valuable assets, our professional drivers. They are responsible for assisting in a variety of driver needs and ensuring our professional drivers are logistically set up for success . Fleet Managers are required to take actions or make recommendations that are given significant weight with respect to discipline, terminations, and other changes of a driver's employment status. Responsibilities Manage all driver interactions, coaching and documenting any issues Communicating availability and ETA's to planning and customer service Be available for efficient communication with drivers, and in-house personnel Ensure understanding of load requirements on orders that require a Verbal dispatch. Confirm driver routing for expirations, maintenance, trade trucks, and home time Track breakdowns and PM services for tractors assigned to their fleet Communicate and facilitate DOT required random drug tests Create a culture a of safety by keeping a safety-first attitude Maintain mileage goals for drivers and trucks Proactively coach drivers to improve the ratio of clean CSA Inspections to negative ones. Ensure all accessorial needs for drivers is processed as well as maintain accurate working statuses on applicable payroll reports Accurately audit payroll and accessorial for drivers. Stay ahead of Safety/DOT Expirations to prevent them from shutting down trucks. Communicate and establish expectations for performance, conduct, and safety, and provide ongoing feedback for the professional driver. Ensure that each truck's Projected Time of Availability is accurate. Maintain accurate information in all programs Compile and submit assigned reports and attend all meetings as required. Follow established procedures and best practices to ensure consistency and quality. Enact appropriate corrective counseling for professional drivers as necessary Provide Training and Participate in Cross Training to ensure account coverage. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong Communication Skills including the ability to deescalate. Patient and Agile Excellent Time Management Skills Efficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to organize well and handle multiple projects required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of applicable transportation management systems Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree in business administration, supply chain, or similar field required. One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required. 2+ years of relevant experience required Previous transportation industry experience required Competitive Compensation We believe in rewarding excellence. The posted range reflects the full pay band for the position. The expected pay range below represents where most candidates are hired, based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Candidates with more extensive or highly relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the overall pay band.
