About the Role The Transportation Manager keeps deliveries moving. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will lead dispatch operations across all shifts, manage the employee transportation team, and administer the independent contractor courier network that supports time-sensitive healthcare deliveries. Salaried Schedule:
Monday through Friday, supporting an operation that runs beyond standard hours, with participation in a rotating weekend on-call schedule. What You Will DoDispatch Operations Lead daily dispatch across all shifts, assigning work to the transportation team and monitoring the dispatch board to make adjustments in real time. Maintain route and delivery coverage based on customer requirements, contractor availability, and demand, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Respond to weather events, service disruptions, and volume spikes with quick, sound decisions. Recommend improvements to route efficiency, capacity, and cost per delivery. Independent Contractor Network Lead the enrollment and qualification process, from contracting through service readiness, and reduce unnecessary delays. Ensure contractors maintain current licensing, insurance, screening, credentialing, and other required documentation, and track renewals before they lapse. Administer contractor agreements and records within established company processes and delegated authority, and ensure contract terms are reflected accurately in settlement and dispatch systems. Serve as the primary contact for service-related contractor issues, keeping communication clear, timely, and respectful. Settlement Accuracy Own the accuracy of contractor settlement and invoice data, catching discrepancies before payment and correcting root causes. Communication and Customer Support Serve as the escalation point for Account Managers on transportation issues. Manage incoming calls through RingCentral and tickets through Zendesk to meet response and resolution standards. Provide regular reporting to the Director of Operations on coverage, network capacity, transportation performance, and emerging issues. Team Leadership Coach and develop the transportation team, set clear expectations, and address performance gaps directly. Serve as the team's CXT expert, training staff and troubleshooting the platform. Develop and maintain SOPs, and build depth so coverage never depends on a single person. What You BringRequired 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in transportation, dispatch, logistics, or comparable operations, including leadership responsibility. Familiarity with RingCentral, CXT, Microsoft 365, and Zendesk, or comparable systems. Working knowledge of independent contractor qualification, documentation, contractual compliance, and transportation requirements. Demonstrated accuracy with data and record-keeping in a settlement, billing, or payroll setting. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure. Clear, professional written and verbal communication. Preferred Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or other time-critical delivery environments. Experience administering an independent contractor delivery network. Experience with OpenForce, AccuSource HR, or comparable enrollment and screening platforms. Education or training in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or a related field. What You Need to Succeed at Orbit Healthcare High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, as required for dispatch, customer service, safety, and operational responsibilities. Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds as required to support operational needs. Ability to travel between Orbit Healthcare locations and customer sites as needed. Participation in a rotating weekend on-call schedule. Ability to pass a drug screen and background check when required by company policy and applicable customer or job requirements. Ability to meet customer site access requirements, which may include vaccinations, TB testing, or other health credentials, administered in accordance with applicable law, including reasonable accommodations. Success in This Role Looks Like Routes are covered and deliveries arrive on time. Contractor records are current and complete, and qualified contractors become ready for service without unnecessary delay. Settlements and invoices are accurate before they reach payment. Tickets and calls are handled promptly, and Account Managers can count on quick resolution. Issues reach the Director of Operations early and with a recommendation attached. The transportation team is well trained, reliable, and not dependent on any one person.
