This role is eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus, subject to the terms and conditions of the Company's sign-on bonus program. We are seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Project Manager to join our growing team in Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR . This is an exciting opportunity for a technical leader who enjoys delivering complex traffic engineering projects while helping expand our traffic and transportation practice throughout the Pacific Northwest. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a proven ability to develop client relationships and win work. This role offers the opportunity to lead impactful traffic engineering projects while supporting a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients. The successful candidate will help drive the continued growth of our traffic practice across Washington and Oregon by expanding client relationships, mentoring staff, and contributing to strategic local business development efforts. Our national Apex traffic team practice primarily resides within our Vancouver and Portland offices with regular opportunities to support broader efforts across our western region which includes 31 offices across WA, OR, ID, CA, NV, UT, and on occasion national support to both our central and eastern regions. Your Responsibilities as a Senior Traffic Project Manager Serve as senior technical lead on cumulative project total >$1M annually. Contribute to successful business development of >$750K annually. Lead the planning, analysis, and design of traffic engineering projects for local agencies, municipalities, and state DOT clients. Manage projects from proposal through design and construction, ensuring successful delivery on schedule and within budget. Prepare and oversee traffic operations studies, corridor studies, intersection evaluations, and safety assessments. Support private development clients with the preparation of Traffic Impact Analyses (TIA) and a variety of other traffic engineering studies supporting private development land use applications. Perform and review traffic modeling and operational analyses using Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and other traffic analysis software. Lead the design of traffic signals, signing and striping, temporary traffic control, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) improvements. Develop and maintain strong client relationships while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities throughout Southwest Washington and the Portland metropolitan area. Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, interviews, presentations, and strategic pursuits. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to project teams. Coordinate with clients, agency staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative transportation solutions. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington and Oregon required with six month of employment. 12+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience, including project management responsibilities. Demonstrated experience delivering traffic engineering projects for local agencies and/or state DOT clients. Proven business development experience, including developing client relationships, pursuing new work, and supporting proposal efforts. Strong knowledge of WSDOT, ODOT, MUTCD, and local agency design standards. Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with WSDOT, ODOT, City of Vancouver, Clark County, or other Pacific Northwest transportation agencies. Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation/OpenRoads, or similar traffic engineering software. Existing relationships with public agency clients in Southwest Washington and the Portland metropolitan area. Experience leading multidisciplinary transportation projects and mentoring engineering staff.
