Initially, this person will independently inspect, diagnose and complete residential and light-commercial roof repairs. As production volume grows, the role will expand into leading a full roofing crew capable of completing roof replacements safely, efficiently and to Cardinal Roofing's quality standards. The ideal candidate is an experienced roofer who takes pride in solving problems, communicates professionally with customers and is ready to grow into a leadership position. This is not a position for someone who only wants to supervise—the successful candidate must be comfortable working on roofs and completing repairs personally. Roof Repairs and Service Inspect roofs and accurately identify the source of leaks or damage. Complete shingle, flashing, pipe boot, ventilation and other common roofing repairs. Perform emergency dry-ins and temporary weather protection when needed. Identify decking, ventilation, flashing and installation issues that require additional work. Take clear before-and-after photographs and document completed work. Keep customers and the production team informed about findings, recommended repairs and job progress. Protect customers' homes, landscaping and property throughout the work. Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools, materials and repair inventory. Roof Repairs and Service Inspect roofs and accurately identify the source of leaks or damage. Crew Development and Leadership As the department grows, the Roofing Crew Lead will: Help recruit, evaluate and onboard roofing laborers and installers. Train employees in proper installation methods, safety procedures and company standards. Assign daily responsibilities and set expectations for the crew. Lead residential and light-commercial roof replacements from job setup through final inspection. Verify correct installation of underlayment, flashing, ventilation, shingles and accessories. Monitor labor productivity, material usage and job progress. Coordinate with production management regarding scheduling, materials and jobsite issues. Conduct final quality-control inspections and ensure punch-list items are completed. Maintain a professional, respectful and accountable crew culture. Safety and Quality Lead daily jobsite safety discussions and enforce fall-protection requirements. Ensure ladders, harnesses, anchors, tools and equipment are used correctly. Maintain clean and orderly jobsites. Report injuries, property damage and safety concerns immediately. Follow manufacturer specifications, applicable building codes and Cardinal Roofing installation standards. Ensure completed work meets warranty and quality requirements. Qualifications At least three years of hands-on roofing experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to diagnose and complete roof repairs independently. Experience with asphalt-shingle roofing required; commercial or low-slope experience is a plus. Previous crew-lead, foreman or training experience preferred. Working knowledge of flashing, ventilation, decking and water-intrusion diagnosis. Ability to read work orders, measurements and basic roof diagrams. Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation to the assigned company location. Ability to pass applicable pre-employment screening. Authorization to work legally in the United States. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind and other normal roofing conditions. Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights. Ability to walk and maintain balance on sloped roofing surfaces. Ability to lift and carry roofing materials, tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
